Epic Brewing 2023 Big Bad Baptist Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout Variants announced

After over a year of planning, brewing, obsessing, barrel-aging, and blending; Epic Brewing will release the 2023 Big Bad Baptist Barrel Aged Imperial Stout Series. The SLC, Utah based brewery is known for Big Bad Baptist, one of the most well respected Imperial Stouts in the world. Every year they release different barrel-aged variants with different themes and culinary confection flavors, this special series is among the earliest examples of pastry stouts and is sought after by beer nerds nationwide.

The flagship year-round version of Big Bad Baptist is a luxuriously rich imperial stout aged in used whiskey / bourbon barrels and then infused with real coffee and cacao nibs. It is also well respected as one of the best coffee beers in the world. Keep an eye on the release number as every batch gets a different dose of coffee.

This year’s six unique Big Bad Baptist variants are inspired by a combination of the brewer’s favorites, fan requests, and years of barrel-aging experience. And for the first time the Big Bad Baptist beers will be available in both 22oz bottles and 16oz cans.

Epic will be releasing all 6 of the new Big Bad Baptist beers at the SLC Brewery on Friday, October 27. The beers are distributed in Oregon via Day One Distribution, check Epic Brewing’s beer finder to see where they are distributed near you at https://www.epicbrewing.com/beer-finder to find them at a store near you.

What you are about to drink is the naked depiction of Big Bad Baptist in the way God - I mean the brewers - intended it. Coquito Big Bad Baptist

“I came down here looking for a story, but I found the strangest paradise on Earth. It’s where your secrets come to dance, and the voodoo works its magic. All of this may sound like some crazed hallucination, but it’s all true…I think.” - Hunter S. Thompson, The Rum Diary.

Inspired by the classic Puerto Rican cocktail, Coquito Big Bad Baptist is 100% aged in Rum barrels, laced with rum-soaked coconut, and finished with cinnamon and vanilla.
