Gigantic Brewing Goes Big and Small

Always one to keep it fresh since 2012, Gigantic Brewing is exploring more out of the box in 2023 then any previous year since. One year ago when Gigantic Brewing opened their third location and first ever kitchen, at 4343 SE Hawthorne. The Gigantic Hawthorne Pub is now the ground zero launchpad for their first ever seasonal food specials, a new ‘Portrait Room’ lounge and with private and public events space, and a launching pad for experimental new beers and events like a pro-wrestling match and a non-alcoholic lager.

Gigantic Hawthorne has had a tots and fried sandwiches-centric menu with items inspired by founder Ben and Van’s travels since day one. But the pub is just getting into the groove of things with long promised new areas and food explorations.

New Seasonal Beers & Collaborations:

Pay Czech Dark Lager is a new seasonal dark lager inspired by the remarkable brewing traditions of Czechia in the tradition of Tmavé or Černé. Dark lagers are everyone’s favorite new winter seasonal it seems, crafted with balance to have some maltiness but also be light and dry. Dark lagers like Pay Czech offer something richer to lager fans who would normally be crushing blonde crispies year round, but are in the mood for something a bit stronger for the winter.

Pay Czech is malty but not too sweet, with the flavor of dark chocolate malt balls and a subtle hint of roasted malt. With a silky smooth mouthfeel, this beer is full of flavor yet incredibly drinkable. Its harmonious blend of richness and drinkability sets our dark lager apart.

Pay Czech Dark Lager is available now at all three Gigantic Brewing locations. Enjoy a pint with friends in the pub or grab a bottle to take home. Look for Pay Czech on draft and in 16.9oz refillable bottles at finer grocers, bars, bottle shops, and bodegas in the Portland metro area and throughout Oregon.

“Big Idea” by Gigantic and Great Notion Brewing is a showcase of Calista, Citra, Crystal, Motueka, and Simcoe hops that pack this collaboation with a tapestry of flavors, ranging from vibrant citrus and luscious berry notes to a tantalizing juiciness that's unmistakably hazy. The beer boasts a captivating grapefruit-citrus and blueberry aroma, a moderate bitterness, and a delightfully juicy finish, making it a must-try for any discerning hop enthusiast seeking a uniquely crafted hazy IPA experience.

Beer aficionados can get their first taste of Big Idea starting November 10th at all three Gigantic locations and select craft beer bottles shops and bars across the Portland area. Look for Big Idea in both bottles and on tap, ensuring accessibility for all fans of Gigantic and Great Notion.

The Portrait Room

The private back room in Gigantic Hawthorne is finally open with a distinctly different vibe from the rest of the pubs bright and colorful design, the Portrait Room is warm, intimate, swanky, and 21+ only. The enclosed room is found down the hall towards the back patio entrance and restrooms, in a wood panel lined space with fine English Oak and leather seating it provides a cozier and quieter respite from the more lively main taproom area.

The Portrait Room has a single TV for Thorns and Timbers matches, and a selection of board games and card games if you are looking for a getaway. It is open to the public at all times, except when booked for a private event or community gathering. It seats up to 30 and catering menus are available whether your event is mingling with pints and hors devours or a full seated dinner. Booking inquiries should be directed to info@giganticbrewing.com.
