VIDEO: Old Town Brewing's Drive-Thru Brewers Market

Customers and onlookers lined up for the inaugural Drive-Thru Brewers Market at Old Town Brewing in northeast Portland last Saturday. The setup is a drive up beer browsing experience with 6 breweries and 1 cidery where you can stock-up without leaving your vehicle. The marketplace will return every Saturday from 11am-4pm from now through the summer.

Orders are placed online at the new brewers marketplace website either in advance or as you browse the brewery and cidery booths from the comfort of your vehicle. While the market was setup for vehicles, many chose to walk or bike thru. The entire drive-thru is a touch-less and no contact operation where the beer is loaded up into your car, bike basket, arms, whatever, after placing your order. You receive a number when you enter the lot and use that number to claim your purchases at the end of the drive-thru. The final product feels a bit like a beer festival without the sampling and a bit like going shopping at your favorite taproom or bottle shop.
