Migration Brewing hires new Head Brewer Zack Kaplan

Migration Brewing has a new head brewer named Zack Kaplan, formerly of Denver's Bonfire Brewing, Saint Archer Brewing, Upslope, and Denver Beer Co. Migration opened a production facility and brewpub in Gresham just over a year ago with then new head brewer Trever Bass who has now moved to Vancouver, BC.

Zack Kaplan comes to the company with over 10 years of professional brewing experience. Migration’s Co-Owner and original head brewer and current Head of Beer Operations, Mike Branes, has been covering the position since Trever Bass's recent departure.

“We are excited to have Zack on board for the next phase of Migration’s growth. He brings a wealth of large volume production and packaging experience to the table, and he’s a great fit for the Migration company culture,“ says Mike Branes. “To add a proven production team leader that has been involved with a variety of fast growth companies and extensive national accolades is a huge asset to our team,” adds Branes.

Since opening their new Gresham production facility in 2018, Migration’s distribution volume has increased by 400% and the company is currently planning to produce over 10,000 bbl’s in 2020. “This is a great opportunity for me to join a company that has a high ceiling for growth. I’ve always wanted to live and brew in the Portland market, and I really look forward to immersing myself in this awesome craft market,” says Zack Kaplan.

A focus of Migration will be to continue high volume growth at the Gresham facility while pushing product innovation at the original Glisan brewpub.

“In addition to production experience, Zack understands the brewpub culture and how important it is to stay relevant with customers. He’s already brought some great ideas to the table that he’s had success with back in Colorado” says Branes.

This winter, Migration is planning to significantly increase the amount of tap lines at the Glisan brewpub in order to facilitate continued innovation and product offerings. For more information, visit http://www.migrationbrewing.com
