Ecliptic Meridian Vanilla Stout and Tucana Tangerine Sour drop in January

Days after releasing their 2020 brand calendar, Portland's Ecliptic Brewing is sharing details on Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale in bottles and Meridian Vanilla Stout in cans. Both beers are being released in January 2020.

TUCANA TANGERINE SOUR ALE

Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale was first released last Spring in 12oz cans as a seasonal. Ecliptic saw room for growth with Tucana and has decided to make it a year-round beer on draft and in 500ml bottles. Tucana will join Ecliptic’s Starburst IPA, Capella Porter and Carina Peach Sour Ale in the series of beers available year-round.

Says Ecliptic’s Sales Manager, Erin Grey Kemplin, “Tucana was a very popular beer for Ecliptic in package and draft in 2019. This combined with the popularity of tangerine and a more approachable ABV made it seem like a natural to add to our year-round offerings.”

Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale is brewed with pale and wheat malts, Cascade Hops, and it gets its citrusy burst from real tangerines from a local fruit supplier: Oregon Fruit Products.

Named after a constellation of stars, Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale is crisp and refreshing, with a touch of tangerine that plays nicely with its well-balanced tartness. The twist of citrus shines bright above the subtly dry finish of this sunset-hued ale.

A release party for Tucana is planned at Ecliptic's restaurant on January 25th.

MERIDIAN VANILLA STOUT

Meridian Vanilla Stout is being released this January 2020 as a new seasonal in 12oz cans and 6-packs.

“You don’t see a ton of stouts in cans – at least, we’ve never done one- so we used this as an opportunity to provide the market with something unique,” says Ecliptic Owner and Brewmaster, John Harris. “This is a dry Irish Style Stout, brewed with real vanilla, and it’s going to be delicious”.

In addition to Pale and Munich Malts, Ecliptic’s brew team used Carafa Special Type 3, a dark-roasted specialty malt made from high-quality spring barley, and roasted barley. This helps give the beer a dark color and full-bodied flavor profile. Real vanilla beans were added to the bright tank to provide a touch of sweetness and aroma.

Finished with vanilla beans, our Meridian is a Dry Irish Style Stout with a smooth mouthfeel with notes of cacao and roast.
