Ferment Brewing releases 3 Barrel-Aged Imperial Stouts & Barleywine

Barleywines are back in a big way, Hood River’s Ferment Brewing Co. has announced the release of two barrel-aged Imperial Stouts and one barleywine for this holiday season. Cold and frosty nights are a little bit warmer this year with the recently releases Ferment Barleywine, No. 22 Stout collaboration with Zupan’s Markets, and a third Imperial Stout available on Tuesday December 6th. Each beer is bottle-conditioned in wax-dipped 500ml bottles. Additionally, this year marks the first time Ferment’s barrel-aged Imperial Stout and Barleywine will be served on draft throughout Oregon and Washington.

The second annual release of Ferment’s Barleywine presents beer lovers with an 11% winter warmer, brewed with a blend of seven different malt varieties from England. The beer was aged for a year in French oak wine barrels and showcases deep layers of dried cherries, raisins and toffee flavors.

Ferment Imperial Stout was aged in Hood River’s, Camp 1805 Bourbon, rye whiskey and rum barrels and blended to taste. Dark dried fruit, coffee and caramel malt character is met with oak and delicate whiskey notes in this traditionally rich 11% ABV brew.

No. 22 Stout is Ferment's third collaboration in the Zupan's Markets Farm to Market Series. This traditional Imperial Stout was aged for 7 months in fresh Colorado whiskey barrels, resulting in a big bodied 14.3% ABV beer with a bold streak of American oak, vanilla, sweet fruit, warm toffee notes and whiskey flavors. Its chocolatey notes make for a natural pairing with dark chocolate, or it can be enjoyed with roasted or grilled meats, roasted root vegetables, lentils and freshly shucked oysters.

“The No. 22 Stout marks the third collaboration we’ve worked on with Zupan’s Markets for their Farm-to-Market series,” said Ferment Brewing Co.’s Brewmaster Dan Peterson. “They’re so supportive of Oregon’s craft breweries, and it has been exciting to work with them once again on a special stout release for the holiday season. Creamy and bold, it’ll be the perfect fireside companion as we head into the Pacific Northwest’s winter months.”

Ferment Brewing Co.’s No. 22 Stout is available at all three Zupan’s Markets locations in a 16.9 ounce bottle for $14.99. A supply will also be available at Ferment Brewing in Hood River for a limited time.

By Dec. 5 all three beers can be purchased at bottle shops throughout Oregon and Washington as well as at Ferment Brewing Company's own Tasting Room which overlooks the scenic Columbia River. In addition to an indoor restaurant, Ferment has heated, outdoor, dog-friendly yurts on its second floor patio from now until early Spring.
