Migration Brewing’s 2-day 12th Anniversary Party

Migration Brewing is throwing the biggest party of Oregon Craft Beer Month weekend this Friday and Saturday, in a multi-location celebration as part of their 12th anniversary. The Portland based brewery has came a long way since their humble beginnings in 2010 when they opened strictly as a neighborhood taproom serving guest beers, before activating their brewing operations lead by co-founder Mike Branes, and early on proved their marketing and business prowess from co-owners Colin Patrick Rath and McKean Banzer-Lausberg, and an impressive hustle in the self-distribution battle by brother Eric McKean.

12 years in, Migration Brewing is stronger than ever with 3 year-round locations, a multi-tiered distribution footprint, 6-packs in grocery stores coming out of a production brewery in Gresham, and small batch innovative brews coming out the original Glisan St. pub. And that’s not even mentioning the seasonal downtown rooftop location that offers one of the best views in Portland (crossing our fingers for a spring reopening of Migration @ the Canvas.)

Williams Pub Anniversary - Friday 2/18

The anniversary celebration starts this Friday February 18th from 5-10pm at Migration’s newest location on N. Williams Ave. in the former Hopworks BikeBar space. That full service brewpub is notable for it’s elevated pub menu, brand new interior mural, and one of the best secluded patios in town hidden behind the LEED certified eco building. The party involves two special release beers, for the crispy boys and girls a Czech-style Pilsner and for the haze bros HopFire Vol. 4 taps into all of the cutting edge hop products for an IPA of juicy proportions. Live music from Jenny Jahlee performing from 7-9pm. And there will be a bonus one-off firkin cask beer of the anniversary Pilsner dry-hopped in the keg with whole hops that taps at 5pm.

Glisan St. Pub 12th Anniversary Throwdown - Saturday 2/19

The main event takes place Saturday, February 19th at Migration’s OG Glisan street pub in an all day celebration running 11am to 11pm. Both new beer releases Czech Pilsner and Hop Fire Vol. 4 hazy IPA will be on draft and available in 16oz cans to-go and the team will be letting you sneak into the back to see where the small batch brew magic happens. A special dry-hopped firkin of the Czech Pilsner will be poured as long as it lasts. And Migration has rolled out some special anniversary gear to wear home. And there will be live music at 4pm from Jenny Jahlee and later DJ Queasy will spin you late into the night.

But what makes this Saturday night party the place to be is the chance to toast to where it all started with an exclusive menu developed just for this occasion that we had the opportunity to sample in advance. Trust us you will not be disappointed.

  • Pappardelle Pasta
Asparagus, goat cheese, charred lemon cream sauce, salt cured egg yolk.
Best paired with a Hazy IPA like the anniversary release Hop Fire Vol. 4

  • Jalapeno Popper Risotto Balls
    Tillamook cheese, bacon jam.
Best paired with the 12th anniversary Czech Pilsner

  • Dip Duo
Dungeness Crab artichoke dip with Mama Lil’s peppers and focaccia toast,
and Carmelized onion dip with housemade potato chips.
Pair with a patio pale, or really any beer will do with this combo.

  • Mussel Frites
The classic European bar food comes home with chorizo sausage, roasted garlic, and curry fries.
Pair it up with the Proper Pils.

  • Hot Pockets
Migration made these as a special once before and they were a massive hit. Choose between meat or veggie options: broccoli cheddar with charred green onion ranch, or, pepperoni with mama lil’s and mozzarella dipping sauce.

  • Mig-Rib Sliders
Migration’s take on the cult favorite McDonald’s McRib sandwich is as good as you wish the fast food version could be. Slow cooked short ribs, with a BBQ demi glaze, fresh sliced red onions, and housemade pickles.
Pair it up with a Patio Pale.

Hop Fire Volume 4

This hazy IPA that features a Phantasm extract, made of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc grape skins, as well as a new yeast strain together with specialty hops like Strata and Nelson Sauvin. The HopFire program focuses on innovation and this volume 4 continues to stretch the boundaries of innovation through unique ingredients and techniques. And not to mention, the can design pays homage to one of hip-hop's most notorious groups, the Wu-tang Clan. ABV: 6.5% IBU: 28 Hops: Kohia Nelson, small amounts of Nelson and Vic Secret. Adjuncts: Phantasm

Hop Fire Volume 4 is made at Glisan’s Pub which is home to The Shop, the beating heart of Migration’s innovation and “represents the spirit of a forward-thinking mindset that’s been a huge part of Migration since the beginning,” noted Mike Branes, Co-Founder and Head Brewer at Migration Brewing. “These ingredients are extremely new and just coming to market in many cases. Migration is leading the charge to shape the future of craft beer in the Pacific Northwest and beyond,” noted Branes.

Czech Anniversary Pilsner

This bright and clear lager made with premium floor-malted German Pilsner, CaraPils, and acidulated malts. Slightly malt forward, this beer has a sweet graininess with a biscuit and cracker like flavor. The heavy addition of Czech Saaz contributes its spicy and floral notes, but the beer finishes soft with a round mouthfeel and crisp and lingering bitterness. ABV: 4.8% IBU: 37

“The hard work everyone puts in to keep the Migration dream alive deserves to be celebrated,” noted Colin Rath, Director of Pubs and Co-Founder. “We’re thrilled to safely bring everyone together this month, to raise a pint, and cheers the brand we’ve built with the support of so many amazing community members. This is when we get to express our gratitude,” he said. Both of these beers will also be available in package (4-packs of 16-ounce cans) at the pubs.

###

Migration Brewing started in 2010 when four friends came together over a passion for craft beer and a dream of opening a brewpub. With a lot of bootstrapping and a little luck, they have since opened four pub locations within Portland. As an award-winning brewery, the Migration team takes great pride in producing world-class beers that embrace innovation while respecting classic styles.
