54°40’ Collaborates with Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge; Teases New Pub

54°40’ Brewing Company in Washougal, WA is set to release cans to celebrate and support the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge. The wildlife refuge can be seen from 54°40’s patio as one looks toward Mt. Hood - a view that the brewery intends to give many more people access to in the coming year. 54°40' and company have acquired the space adjacent to the brewery with plans to create a patio experience unlike anything in the Gorge.

54°40’ Brewing is proud to present a new collaboration ale on draft and in package. Restoration Ale is the latest seasonal release from the brewery, brewed in partnership with the Columbia Gorge Refuge Stewards and in honor of the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge Habitat Restoration and Flood Control Project. This NW-style Pale Ale was brewed with Amarillo and Rakau hops to be citrus and stone fruit forward with an easy drinking finish. The release marks the first package and draft release in the Restoration Ale series designed to highlight the on-going efforts of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s efforts in restoring salmon habitat at Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge, which is the next door neighbor to the brewery in Washougal, Washington.

The Gorge Refuge Stewards is a group of dedicated volunteers working to preserve, protect, and restore the native habitat on three National Wildlife Refuges on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge: Steigerwald Lake, Franz Lake and Pierce. The mission of the Gorge Refuge Stewards is to preserve and enhance the native species of Steigerwald Lake, Franz Lake and Pierce National Wildlife Refuges through public education, advocacy and habitat restoration in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The Restoration Ale tapping and rollout event will happen at the Stewards annual public meeting 6:30pm Tuesday April 16th at 54°40' Brewing. The presentation will include an update regarding the Steigerwald Habitat Restoration and Flood Control Project. 54°40' Brewing Company will also be donating $1 for each pint of Restoration Ale back to the Refuge Stewards. In addition, 6-packs of 12 ounce cans of Restoration Ale will be available at the taproom and local stores such as New Seasons, BevMo!, and Total Wine & More.
