Sierra Nevada celebrates 40 with Hoppy Anniversary IPA

Sierra Nevada Hoppy Anniversary

Sierra Nevada Brewing is embarking on a year-long 40th anniversary celebration with a new spring seasonal beer called Hoppy Anniversary. This is a classic West Coast IPA brewed with cluster, cascade and centennial hops with a light caramel malt sweetness and deep gold color. Hoppy Anniversary will be available in 12oz bottles and six-packs this January 2020.

"To celebrate our anniversary, we wanted a beer that showcased the flavors we helped develop: the bold pine and citrus flavors of a classic West Coast IPA," said Sierra Nevada founder and owner, Ken Grossman.

Founded in 1980, Sierra Nevada started brewing craft beers in a radically different beer landscape. At the time, there were only about 40 brewereis in the United States, mostly brewing mass-produced, low-flavor beer. Today, there are more than 7,000 American craft breweries, and some of their best-selling beers are hop-forward styles-the very styles that Ken pioneered through his obsession with and belief in hops.

"When we started in 1980, we knew we'd better make something memorable and distinctive," said Ken. "Here's to following your passion against all odds and to the next 40 years."
