2019 Oregon Beer Awards Winners, Medalists and Photo Recap
The 2019 Oregon Beer Awards ceremony was held last night, February 26th, at Revolution Hall in southeast Portland, where 75 medals were awarded in 25 judged beer categories. In addition to the 25 beer style categories, there were awards handed out for Best New Brewery, Best Beer Fest, Best Brewpub, Best Branding, Best Bottle Shop/Beer Bar, Beer Doing More, Best Collaboration, a Hall of Fame award, and Best Small, Medium, and Large Brewery of the Year.The 25 awarded beer categories were judged in a double-blind competition in January by 85 industry judges (Fresh Hops categories were judged back in September). 1,090 beers were entered this year from 133 Oregon breweries across the state. That's an impressive number that still has a lot of room to grow.The ceremony was kicked off by this year's MCs, Joe Sanders of Old Town Brewing and Ben Love of Gigantic Brewing, who came out on-stage after a fun sketch video that played to an excited crowd. The video above was filmed and edited by Jordan Wilson who produces all of Old Town Brewing's great promo videos.The recently passed Jim Parker received the award for the Oregon Beer Hall of Fame. Parker was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame that now includes such legends at Fred Eckhardt, Don Younger, and John Harris. The Oregon Historical Society and last year's winner, John Harris, fittingly introduced and presented the award to Parker's son, Joel Parker, while the family sat in attendance.
