Fort George cancels 2022 Festival of the Dark Arts, but Stout Month and Lupulin Ecstasy go on

Fort George Brewery has decided against holding a 2022 Festival of the Dark Arts. Considered one of Oregon’s premiere beer festivals, the February event has become a huge attraction for dark beer lovers that included celebrations of magic, tattoos, fire, fortune tellers, and other steampunk and dark magic inspired arts. The good news is that Stout Month will still take place in February and the Lupulin Ecstasy event featuring the debut of 3-Way IPA will also come back.

Rather than compromise their ambitious goals for how big and bold Festival of the Dark Arts can go, the Astoria, Oregon based Fort George Brewery opted to hold off until they can throw an event that can live up to it’s full potential. Festival of the Dark Arts is still a residual victim of the pandemic for one more year.

STOUT MONTH

However, Stout Month does not require a large festival crowding a ton of people into a small space for a full blowout. Stout Month can be taken one dark and boozy sip at a time, spread out for maximum comfort over the cold month of February.

So for the entire month of February in Astoria, expect live music and events, guest breweries, and guest stouts on tap. Instead of cramming everything into one week, new stuff will happen every week, plenty of reason to make return visits and cut down on potential crowding. Also, no lines for Stout Month Merch, of which there will be plenty.

And since they are spreading out the stouts, there will be more of them from fellow stout brewers across the country. Darker Fort George stouts, darker guest stouts, darker Matryoshka variants for 2022, some of which will be pub-exclusive. Music and friends and events and talks will take place every week along with new and rare beers.

The brewery teases the possibility of trapeze artists, tarot readings, and other Dark Arts esque entertainment in the brewery courtyard, so bring your coats because February is cold and wet in Astoria. More info will certainly be forthcoming.

Lupulin Ecstasy

This relatively new event was launched a handful of years back to celebrate with past and present participants in Fort George’s annual collaboration 3-Way IPA. The plan is to get every brewery that has ever collaborated on the 3-Way to participate in Lupulin Ecstasy. IPA’s will be plentiful, but details are still scarce. One thing we do know is that the brewery’s new production and packaging facility will host the event at the Fort George Waterfront & Beer Pier on May 21st, 2022. There will be advanced tickets, keep following for more news, updates and announcements.
