Migration Brewing releases Hop Fire Vol. 3, a Hazy IIPA featuring Phantasm

Portland, Oregon’s Migration Brewing has released the most ambitious version yet of their Hop Fire experimental/innovation IPA series. Hop Fire Volume 3 is a Hazy Double IIPA with the latest innovative hop product out of New Zealand - PHANTASM. This is the third, and highly limited release in the series and it’s on sale now on draft and in 16 oz/4-pack cans only at Migration Brewing’s three Portland locations. More on what Phantasm is and how it contributes to a beer below.

More from a press release:

The high hop aroma and golden, cloudy appearance of the 8.5% ABV double IIPA exhibits a wide range of tasting notes, including passionfruit, mango, tangerine, and guava. The brew team sourced a new product from New Zealand—PHANTASM, made of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc grape skins—to create a unique aroma that bursts from every glass. The first U.S. brewery to work with Kohia Nelson hops, Migration leveraged the combination of freeze-dried passionfruit and high-thiol producing hops to create an intensity of tropical aromas.

“This third offering is a super big deal for Migration, especially given the level of innovation imparted by the unique ingredients behind the beer,” said Mike Branes, Co-Founder and Head Brewer at Migration Brewing. “We wanted this line of beers to tell a story of exotic ingredients and true, bold experimentation—something we believe comes through in every glass of Volume 3,” states Branes.

Each Hop Fire beer is developed at Migration’s original 7 BBL production brewery, newly reconfigured and lovingly referred to as “The Shop.”  Some say the infamous location is the precise center of Portland. Whether true or not, it is undoubtedly the center of Migration—our very heart and soul, and where we let our creative brewers play, innovate, and serve up the hop fire.
