OBG Pint Day, Central Oregon Beer Fest, Pop-Up, and Zwickelmania
Oregon’s small and independent craft brewery trade association the Oregon Brewers Guild has announced or teased 5 different new and returning events this winter that celebrate locally made beer. The winter season is traditionally the slowest time of year for breweries and bars - perhaps even moreso with COVID-19 - and thus can use your support.
State of Excitement® Pop-Up
During the month of December the NW Portland event space Function PDX is hosting the Oregon Brewers Guild to highlight small and independent breweries from across the state. This pop-up style event takes over the intimate bar, elevated back patio, and streetside parklet from December 2 - 26th with the following breweries: Heater Allen, Bevel Craft Brewing, Boneyard, Sunriver Brewing, Ferment Brewing, ColdFire Brewing, Wolves & People, Thunder Island, Double Mountain, Buoy Beer, Claim 52, Block 15, Wild Ride, and ForeLand Beer
If you've not checked out Function PDX yet, please stop by this month and help us celebrate!
OBG Pint Day
This Friday - Saturday, December 10-11th is the first annual OBG Pint Day. Participating breweries and OBG allied partners will be offering a special commemorative glass celebrating the hops, barley, and water of Oregon that make our craft beer so special.
$1 from every glass sold will be donated to the Oregon Brewer’s Guild to help fund the newly launched “Mashing Barriers” internship program. The program has been created in an effort to help underserved individuals gain access to the employment opportunities within the Oregon brewing industry. The funds will help offset the associated costs such as payroll, meals, etc. for the intern.
Participating sponsors: Baerlic Brewing, Bevel Craft Brewing, Block 15, Buoy Beer, Cascade Lakes Brewing, Deschutes Brewery, Ex Novo Brewing, Gigantic Brewing, Ground Breaker Brewing, Imperial Yeast, Laurelwood Brewing, Leikam Brewing, Ninkasi Brewing, Room 122, Silver Moon Brewing, Stormbreaker Brewing, Von Ebert Brewing, Wayfinder Beer, and Wolf Tree Brewing.
You will also be able to purchase the glass via our online shop starting on the 10th.
State of Excitement® Enthusiast Event
The OBG relaunched their public facing membership club S.N.O.B. into the State of Excitement Enthusiast program in 2019 to engage the Oregon craft beer scene through events, education, special merchandise and more.
On Saturday, December 11th from 4-6pm the OBG will be hosting an appreciation event for State of Excitement Enthusiast members at Function PDX during their ongoing pop-up.
Benefits of your membership include monthly newsletters, early entry to Guild events, quarterly “Happy Hour” events at member breweries, special gift with membership (dependent on availability), laminated membership card, and more. Even if you are not a member but are interested in becoming one you are invited to stop by the event on the 11th for more information and if you sign-up you get a free beer of your choice from the lineup.

Zwickelmania® 2022
Oregon Craft Beer Month returns for February 2022 where it’s marquee event Zwickelmania will take place in-person instead of virtually as it did in 2021. Zwickelmania is Oregon’s brewery open house event where the brewers invite the public into the brewhouse for free tours and tastings, many of them adding food and drink specials, beer releases and entertainment. This one-day event takes place on separate days for Portland versus the rest of the states breweries.
Mark your calendars:
Portland - Saturday, February 19th
Statewide - Saturday, February 26th
Central Oregon Winter Beer Festival
Bend, Oregon’s GoodLife Brewing has hosted the Central Oregon Winter Beer Festival every December since 2012 but have recently handed over the event to the Oregon Brewers Guild. The OBG is currently working on relaunching the festival as a kickoff for Oregon Craft Beer Month on Saturday, February 5th, so mark your calendars and watch this space for more details.
