Fremont Brewing and Floodland collaborate on Woodland Park Avenue North

Seattle’s two fremont neighborhood breweries are releasing a collaboration 3 years in the making called Woodland Park Avenue North. The American Sour Ale was brewed at Fremont Brewing and aged in a foeder from Floodland Brewing and is making it’s debut in 750ml bottles this Saturday, March 6th.

“It all started with a busted, leaky mess of an oak foedre from France.  Adam Paysse, owner/brewer of Floodland, had purchased the foedre and upon receipt realized it would take a great deal more time and effort to bring it back to life than he had for the project and graciously gifted it to Fremont,” said Matt Lincecum, Co-Founder and Brewer of Fremont Brewing.

Brewed to commemorate the refurbished foedre with Adam’s collaboration, Woodland Park Avenue North is from Fremont’s Black Heron Project series of beers.  The Black Heron Project is focused on creating small-batch, mixed fermentation beer that highlight local grain, local hops, and local fruit.

A 7.2% American Sour Ale, Woodland Park Avenue North was brewed with both malted and raw Washington triticale, is a hybrid of wheat and rye as well as barley grown and malted at Mecca Grade in Oregon. Woodland Park was mash hopped with aged Washington whole hop flowers and fermented in the refurbished oak wine foedre with mixed yeast cultures from Fremont and Floodland. After fermentation in the foedre ceased, Woodland Park was refermented on Washington grown Viognier grapes from the 2019 harvest and traditionally conditioned and carbonated in bottle.

Named Woodland Park Avenue North to celebrate the street where Fremont’s Urban Beer Garden and original brew house are located as well as Floodland’s fermentation and aging facility.  The pre-sale will take place on Thursday, March 4th at 12PM via fremontbrewing.com.

Orders will be limited to 2, 750ml bottle and 1, Magnum bottle per household while supplies last.  Order pick-ups will start at Fremont’s Urban Beer Garden on Saturday, March 6th at 12PM.
