Occidental Brewing and Montavilla Brew Works, two of the few Oregon breweries that have held out on reopening their taprooms since way back in March 2020 will finally reopen their patios for sit down service on May 4th and May 6th respectively.

Occidental Brewing has always had an outside area in front of their modest taproom at the brewery in N. Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood. Taking advantage of warmer weather and the current COVID-19 related indoor restrictions will yield a larger patio space in the courtyard of the Cathedral Park Place business park next to the St. Johns Bridge, Cathedral Park and the Willamette River. The taproom will be outdoors only for the forseeable future, and start off with limited days/hours Thursday and Friday 4 to 9 pm, and Saturday 12-7 pm but may well expand as things stabilize. Contactless to-go options for their beers will remain in place for anyone who would like to pick up rather than sit down at a socially distanced table.

Occidental taproom will open up with a handful of drafts from the regular lineup like Kolsch, Hefeweizen, Pilsner, Edel-hell, and the newest version of their ongoing NW Pilsner collaboration series, this one with ForeLand Brewing.

Made in collaboration with ForeLand Beer, this Northwest Pilsner is a single-hop lager brewed with Adeena™, a new Yakima Valley variety with floral and spicy characteristics common to noble hops. With several hop additions throughout the brew, this beer has a layered yet smooth hop complexity. Alc. 5% by Vol."
