Deschutes The Abyss Beer Brunch returns with vintage flights, cellared bottles, & food specials

Deschutes Brewery is bringing back their annual pre-covid tradition of celebrating the release of world-class barrel-aged Imperial Stout ‘The Abyss’ with a beer brunch at the Portland pub. This Saturday, November 19th from 10am - 2pm. A special brunch menu will be served, and a 3-year vertical flight of vintage The Abyss, plus even more rare spirit barrel variants will be poured with specials lasting into the night.

The Abyss was one of the first highly sought after Oregon beers that garnered a fandom who would line up for cases of bottles to cellar and trade. This is a motor oil stout before those became more commonplace to emulate, to this day The Abyss is one of the best out there with incredible depth in its 13% ABV, tastes of molasses, licorice, cherry bark, vanilla bean, and charred oak akin to a premium whiskey paired with brownies and barbecue.

At The Abyss beer brunch the brewery will be pouring vertical tasting flights of vintage releases from 2013, 2014, 2015, as well as The Abyss Rye whiskey variant from 2015, and The Abyss Tequila variant from 2017. There are only a few kegs of the variants so they will be draft-only. But the brewery will be selling bottles to-go of The Abyss 2009-2010, 2013-2016, plus the varinats: Old World, Port, Abyss Coconut, as well as The Abyss 2022 4-packs in the newish format 12oz bottles.

Salmon Lox Plate $15
Housemade lox and breads, whipped cream cheese, accoutrements

Pumpkin Abyss Cinnamon Roll $13
Cinnamon and brown sugar abyss roll, cream cheese frosting
Add bacon and eggs for $6

Steak & Eggs $33
Flat iron steak, eggs, hollandaise, wild mushroom and potato hash
Add avocado for $2

Abyss Chorizo Benedict $19
Abyss chorizo sausage, griddled roll, pico de gallo, poached eggs, hollandaise. Served with fresh fruit or fries.

Crab Cake Benedict $25
Dungeness crab cakes, heirloom tomato, poached eggs, hollandaise. Served with fresh fruit or fries.

Biscuits & Gravy $16
Buttermilk biscuit, abyss fennel sausage gravy.
Add an egg for $2

ESB Burger (Extra Special Breakfast Burger) $19
Two quarter-pound patties, cheddar, bacon, aioli, fried egg, housemade bun. Served with fresh fruit or fries.

Chicken & Waffle $21
Spicy fried chicken, sourdough waffle, smoked provolone, bacon, honey butter, marionberry syrup.
