Earth Day Oregon Breweries & Taprooms

Earth Day Oregon (EDO) is a rapidly growing annual effort that brings attention and donations to nonprofits across Oregon by fostering and promoting lasting partnerships with local businesses leading up to Earth Day.

This year you can drink beer to help the causes that support the planet during an unprecedented time of global warming and compounded crises. In support of the cause the New School is highlighting a full list of the places where you can grab a craft beer and show your own personal support at participating locations and brands from Southern Oregon up the I-5 corridor, the coast to Eastern Oregon, 33% of participating nonprofits are headquartered outside of Portland compared to 13% last year. Each nonprofit is responsible for gaining support from three Oregon businesses, which means that more than 200 businesses will participate in this year’s program.

Individuals can participate in three ways: By supporting businesses that are hosting special promotions for nonprofit partners; by attending a nonprofit partner’s individual events; or via a direct donation to a nonprofit partner on April 22.

Any nonprofit in Oregon that meets one of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals is eligible to join the EDO campaign. A number of the goals are historically recognized environmental imperatives such as protecting life below water, affordable and clean energy, and ensuring responsible consumption and production. A number of the goals go beyond traditional views of environmentalism — such as ending poverty, reducing inequality, and achieving justice for all. Each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals are addressed by one or more nonprofits in EDO’s campaign.

“Earth Day Oregon’s Nonprofit Partners are collectively making a critical impact to change our world for the better,” said Kelly Stevens, Earth Day Oregon Executive Director. “Whether they are working to provide affordable alternative energy, bring about racial justice, end poverty, or protect ecosystems, these organizations represent a wide diversity of missions and locations across our state. Our hope is that every Oregonian can use our campaign to find and support a nonprofit that is working to create a more just, livable, and sustainable world.”

Oregonians are invited to check out the Earth Day Oregon website at earthdayor.org for a full list of nonprofit and business partners and ways to engage. People can browse nonprofits to find an organization to support, check out the list of participating businesses and the nonprofits each has partnered with, and view a growing calendar of events and promotions.
