Alesong Brewing & Blending releases 4 new Barrel-Aged Beers
Featuring new versions of old favorites and exciting new blends
Eugene’s Alesong Brewing & Blending is releasing four new barrel-aged blends on February 3rd, their first bottled releases of the new year. This release features the return of Alesong’s classic barleywine, Maestro, two entirely new beers, and a fresh take on their Flanders-red-inspired, Raspberry Parliament.
Maestro: Our beloved English-style barleywine is back! Aged in freshly emptied Heaven Hill bourbon barrels, this oak-forward leader crescendos from first sip to last. Sultry aromas of toffee, vanilla, and spice lead the band and a balanced sweet, caramel-like malt flavor rounds out this full-bodied ale.
Stonefruit Sonata: This snapshot of Oregon summertime boasts a luscious and fleshy nectarine essence with every sip. We believe that stone fruit character this vibrant has to come from whole, tree-ripened nectarines, and once you’ve had a chance to taste it, we think you’ll agree.
Rolling Mist: Drawing inspiration from the malty and robust French Bière de Garde style, this tart, amber-colored farmhouse ale was aged in neutral French oak barrels before blending and conditioning on Oregon-foraged Sitka Spruce tips. Tantalizing evergreen and citrus aromas waft from the glass and provide a refreshing balance to the toasty malt flavors of the base beer.
Raspberry Parliament (Club Exclusive): Beginning with our russet-colored “Parliament” base aged in French oak, this beer underwent a second fermentation on beautiful raspberries from our neighbors at King Estate before a brief final rest in post-Rhino-Suit, American oak barrels to round out the acid profile. A touch of local wildflower honey adds a hint of sweetness and complexity to the final blend.
All four beers will be available for tasting at Alesong’s downtown tasting room in the 5th Street Public Market beginning February 3rd, while Maestro and Stonefruit Sonata will also be available at retailers throughout the Pacific Northwest. Bottles of Raspberry Parliament are reserved exclusively for Blender’s Circle bottle club members, but the beer can be sampled on draft by all at Alesong’s tasting rooms. ABOUT ALESONG BREWING AND BLENDING: Alesong Brewing and Blending is a small artisan brewery based in the heart of Southern Willamette Valley wine country with a public tasting room in downtown Eugene. The all-barrel-aged brewery crafts unique and small-batch beers, brewing both wild and non-wild styles that span the flavor spectrum. Once the beer in barrels has matured, the team samples and selects each barrel individually to blend. Paying homage to old-world Lambic blenders and artisan winemakers, Alesong believes that the final, balanced blend of a barrel-aged beer is much more complex and satisfying than the sum of its parts or each individual barrel by itself.
