Fort George Brewery announces 3-Way IPA and Lupulin Ecstasty Festival for 2023

Fort George Brewery’s most anticipated beer release of the year, 3-Way IPA, is heading our way this May. The annual collaboration with two different esteemed IPA brewers each year, kicks off the Lupulin Ecstasy festival which highlights the series collaborators past and present.

Each year Fort George selects two different breweries to join them in Astoria for fun and debauchery as they cook up that years completely different 3-Way IPA. Over the past few years there have been multiple iterations of the same annual collab, special limited versions with New Zealand hops or one batch being clear and West Coast-style IPA and the other a Hazy NE-style IPA.

This year Fort George is collaborating with Anchorage Brewing out of Alaska and Cellarmaker Brewing out of the California, bay area. Anchorage Brewing is perhaps best known for their oak-aging process that touches nearly every one of their beers, when they first opened the beers were more farmhouse and funky and in more recent years have become known for big beers like Imperial Stout and Barleywine. Cellarmaker Brewing has always had a penchant for hazy IPA, becoming one of the first breweries in the bay-area to fully embrace the style. As of late they are leaders in the Modern/Contemporary American IPA subset that pushes hazy flavors in a pale lighter and not so hazy beer with big aromatics and low bitterness.

In an announcement, Fort George says they were selecting “A brewery farther north than any brewery we’ve ever worked with. And a brewery so obsessed with innovation that they’ve rarely made the same beer twice. Both masters of their craft, wise in the ways of IPAs, cognizant of the capriciousness of yeast, and brimming with cool ideas. “

Lupulin Ecstasy Festival 2023

Arriving in time for the newest batch of 3-Way IPA, Fort George invites breweries who are known for hops and previous collaborators to Astoria for this all IPA festival each May. Taking place on the grounds of the historic Flavel House in central Astoria, the Lupulin Ecstasy event features multiple drinking areas, food trucks, a beautiful historic setting with fountains and a history museum.

Lupulin Ecstasy was first conceived as a party for friends: Fort George collaborators from more than a decade, each year bringing a new and brilliant recipe to life for the summer release of 3-Way IPA. With over 2 dozen of the Northwest’s finest, coolest, newest, cutest, tastiest breweries to choose from.

One of the best parts of this event? Fort George highly limits tickets so that it never seems crowded. They go on sale on Thursday, April 20th at 4:20pm for the festial a month later on May 20th, 2023. They will probably sell out the same day they go on-sale.

Each ticket to Lupulin Ecstasy Festival is a ticket to taste the best IPAs in the PNW and beyond. One ticket includes a tasting glass and 6x 6oz pours, as well as admission to the Flavel House Museum and the Oregon Film Museum. On May 20th, we welcome you to step into a world of delicious, guilt-less excess as you wander the grounds of two of Astoria’s finest museums, right in the heart of downtown, with live music, special attractions, tantalizing food and virtually endless tastes of IPAs from past 3-Way collaborators, potential future collaborators, and other best buds we’ve accumulated over the last 16 years of summers.
