Avid Cider Co. Closing their Bend, Oregon Taproom as part of ongoing transition

Oregon’s second largest cidery, Bend, Oregon based Avid Cider Co. (previously known as Atlas Cider), are closing their current taproom at 550 SW Industrial Way #190, in Bend’s Box Factory building. The move is part of a transition out of their current operations following a recent announcement that they are also relocating their production facility to Redmond, Oregon into Silver Moon Brewing’s former production facility. The current lease at Avid Cider’s taproom runs out on November 1st, 2023, and they will continue operations there until then while looking at new opportunities for additional taprooms in Oregon.

The move comes as part of Avid’s ongoing expansion efforts as a result of their 2022 sale to Blake's Hard Cider of Michigan. The Redmond production. The new Avid Cider production area has 15,000 square foot of space and includes a sizable tank farm that will allow them to produce new ciders and expand their Seven Peaks Seltzer brand. Those moves are behind-the-scenes, and consumers may not notice any change at all, but the closure of their popular taproom that hosts numerous events will be felt.

"The Box Factory has been Avid’s home for the last eight years" said Avid Cider's CEO and Co-Founder, Samantha Roberts. "While we will miss the location and the roots we have built there, we are incredibly excited to start a new chapter for the Avid brand that will continue our trend of growth and brand expansion" she continued. Avid’s relocation plan is already well underway with exploring opportunities and locations to reopen their taproom in 2024 at a new location in Bend, Oregon.

Avid Cider has explored opening satellite locations before. In 2018 they opened a large taproom and full restaurant with brunch service in an impressive shiny new Portland pearl district space, only to suddenly shut it down without warning one year later.

Avid fans will not have to worry about finding their favorite ciders around Central Oregon in the interim. “We want to make sure all of our loyal customers have plenty of opportunities to enjoy Avid’s cider and experiences while we are between taprooms” said Avid Cider’s Taproom Manager, Jenna Wazny. “We are working on interim plans that will allow our followers to find us throughout Central Oregon at a variety of locations throughout the Winter and Spring of 2024” she continued.

Now in their 10th year as a cidery, Avid Cider was founded as a result of dissatisfaction with the lack of variety and excessively dry or cloyingly sweet ciders available in the marketplace in 2013. They saw the opportunity to create hard cider that better balances the elements of a flavor profile and satiates our thirst for a cider that is “just right.” They are on a mission to bring out the best of the Northwest with their clean, natural, and locally sourced cider.
