Brouwer’s Cafe is Closing Soon

On Saturday, May 25th, Brouwer’s Cafe made the announcement we were all dreading, the imminent closure of one of the pacific northwest’s great beer bars. The 19-year old Brouwer’s Cafe has had a long run, but not long enough for one of the best taphouses in the world. The Belgian inspired bar and restaurant located in Seattle, Washington’s Fremont Neighborhood helped transform the city into a craft beer mecca, cultivating an entire generation of beer nerds and industry pros who were inspired by the dedication and showcase for beers from across the world. On a small positive note, Brouwer’s Cafe has not gone out like so many others recently with almost no notice, they have given us a month to pay our respects before the last day on June 29th, 2024.

Brouwer’s Café was one of Seattle’s first craft beer bars when it opened in 2005. With 64 craft beers on draft and over 400 bottles, Brouwer’s became the place to go to find beers brewed in WA State, up and down the West Coast, as well as from Belgium and around the world.

Brouwer’s regularly collaborated with local breweries to help bring more of their beers to a rapidly growing and very thirsty beer community. Brouwer’s also celebrated beer through popular annual events like their Sour Fest, Back in Black Stout Fest, Hop Fest, Big Wood, and Blind Lion, and was the kick-off spot for Seattle Beer Week festivities for many years.

“In the early years we had days with people 3 deep at the bar because they just had to have that special release beer, and our festivals caused lines around the block. The energy was high, we were at the forefront of the beer scene, and it was a lot of fun for our customers and our staff.” - Nat Pellman, General Manager

Brouwer’s Café also turned peoples’ love of beer into to support for local artists, businesses and causes. Just one example includes their Drunk Herstory event which featured some of the amazing women working in the beer industry, and also raised money for Planned Parenthood.

“We feel honored to have been part of this amazing community for so long, and we cherish all the incredible friendships we’ve made along the way. The good news is we still have time to drink, tell stories, and celebrate together. So come in and visit us, help us kick some kegs and empty our coolers. We plan to close our doors on June 29 th .” – Nat Pellman, General Manager

Brouwer’s Café plans to officially close on June 29th , leaving plenty of time for the community to come in and say their farewells, recount their favorite Brouwer’s stories, and celebrate together.
