Zoiglhaus Brewery and Cerveceria Norte to release 5 Fresh Hop beers
Outer southeast Portland Lents neighborhood brewery Zoiglhaus, and their sister brand side project Cerveceria Norte, are releasing 5 fresh hop beers, all hitting 16oz cans and draft for the 2024 season. All beers will be available in Oregon and around the Pacific Northwest, and from The Zed, the food hall that Zoiglhaus launched in 2021 and has now picked up quite a bit of steam.
Zoiglhaus Brewery was co-founded in 2015 by veteran brewmaster Alan Taylor, and specializes in German-style pub beers often served fresh and unfiltered. Zoiglhaus’ fresh Hop versions of Kolsch and Oktoberfest are particularly beloved and acclaimed, both capturing multiple silver and gold medals at fresh Hop competitions such as the Oregon Beer Awards. 2024 will mark the first fresh hop beers from Cerveceria Norte, the Latino-inspired brand that launched in May 2023 and is adding some interesting and unusual styles to the spectrum of fresh hopped beers.
ZOIGLHAUS BREWERY
Fresh Hop Kölsch

Brewed just like in Cologne with all-German ingredients, then fermented slow and cool with an authentic Kölsch yeast strain brought back from brewer/owner Alan Taylor's studies in Germany. Fresh Hop Zoigl-Kölsch is the standard base beer but with 75 lbs of fresh, local Tettnanger hops added in the whirlpool.

Fresh Hop Super Pils!

This looks like a job for Zoigi! Flying down to Goschie Farms and back on the same day to provide us with Centennial hops straight off the bine, Zoigi basks in the glow of a job well done. Our Fresh Hop Super Pils combines the power of German-style mashing and fermentation with the dry hopping of the West Coast. The freshly picked green hop cones are the opposite of Kryptonite in this Pilsner, providing a blast of hop flavors and aromas to go with the malt crispness. With great beer comes great responsibility. Prost!

Oktoberfresh (TM)

Marrying German malts and yeast with freshly picked US grown Hallertauer hops (called Abiqua in honor of the Native American name of a local river), OktoberfreshTM is a once-a-year labor of love for the Zoiglhaus brewers. Deep orange in color from the Munich malt, which provides a rich and distinctive aroma, OktoberfreshTM starts malty, but ends crisp and refreshing. The wet Abiqua hops lend a mild spiciness and delicate floral note to this Autumn brew. Prost!

CERVECERIA NORTE
Fresh Hop Tucan IPA

Tucán has always displayed great hop aromas and flavors reminiscent of tropical fruits. That is why he hangs out around the fruit trees so much. For this brew he used that colorful beak to harvest Strata fresh hops with our friends at Indie Hops. Strata hops provide notes of strawberry, passion fruit, grapefruit and a touch of dank. Fresh Hop Mexican-style Dark Lager

Harvest time is always bustling and thirst inducing. This Fresh Hop version of our Mexican-Style Dark Lager is here to help quench that thirst. The blend of German and US malts and corn lays the foundation for the soft and delicious hop flavors from the Tettnanger hops we get from our friends at Goschie Farms. Putting the local touch on a classic style! Salud!
