Washington Wins 26 Medals at the World Beer Cup but 2 were miscredited to Oregon

Washington Breweries won 26 medals at the 2025 World Beer Cup but were only credited with 24 medals on the official World Beer Cup results spreadsheet.

The World Beer Cup is now an annual international competition produced by the Brewers Association (BA) and taking place during the Craft Brewers Conference® & BrewExpo America.® which was this year held in Indianapolis, Indiana. The prestigious awards are considered the top worldwide beer competition as every country is invited to compete on a global stage.Throughout 14 sessions spanning seven days, a panel of 265 judges from 37 countries methodically evaluated 8,375 entries from 1,761 breweries and cideries across 49 nations and bestowed 349 awards.*

The discrepancy in the total medal count for Washington breweries is due to the mislabeling of Victor 23 Brewing of Vancouver, Washington as instead being from Portland, Oregon. Victor-23 can credit their success to former Wayfinder Beer brewer Tom Torresdal, who has recently did well at the Washington Beer Awards as well. Asked if he had any idea why Victor 23 was categorized as an Oregon brewery, Torresdal said: “That’s a bit of a head scratcher for me. Got to figure out why that happened. Only thing I can think is owner lives in Oregon, and I paid for entries with a credit card based from Oregon.”

Victor 23 is one of the North Bank Brewers Alliance members that comprises Southwest Washington. This year NBBA breweries scored 3 gold medals, 1 each from Barrel Mountain Brewing, Grains of Wrath Brewing, and Victor 23 Brewing which also netted a bronze medal.

"The World Beer Cup competition continues to showcase the global industry's dedication to innovative craftsmanship, diverse flavors, and technical excellence,” said Chris Williams, World Beer Cup competition director. “This roster of 2025 winners represents the pinnacle of craft brewing and cideries, demonstrating what’s achievable through dedication and passion. Congratulations to this year’s award winners; they have once again helped set the standard for excellence in their craft, inspiring innovation and fostering healthy competition within the industry.”
