Oregon wins 34 medals and 2 Brewery of the Year awards at 2026 Great American Beer Festival (GABF)
It was a banner year for Oregon Brewers and cidermakers at the 2026 GABF, they racked up 34 medals and 2 Brewery of the year awards. A total of 243 breweries and cideries took home 336 medals in this year’s Great American Beer Festival competition. Over 3 days, 225 expert judges evaluated 7,267 beer and cider entries—including 54 Collaboration and 30 Pro-Am submissions—from breweries across 49 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
Oregon claimed 16 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals.
The Brewers Association (BA) announced the 2026 award-winning beers and ciders at this year’s reimagined Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) on Sunday, October 11. For the first time, festival attendees were able to see the awards ceremony live on stage at Levitt Pavilion in Denver, Colorado.
GABF has been the heartbeat of American craft beer culture since 1982, and this year it relaunched in a brand-new venue outdoors in a park, with a revamped layout, and a renewed focus on the breweries - now with cider, spirits, seltzer and RTDs!
The Great American Beer Festival is not only about sampling quality beverage alcohol. It’s also a beer and cider competition! Breweries enter their beer or cider to be judged by the festival’s professional judge panel. Attendees can also sip the beer and cider entered in the competition during the festival.
The Great American Beer Festival invites industry professionals from around the world to sit together in small groups and, without knowing the brand name, taste beer and cider in each specified style category. The ultimate goal of the GABF judge panel is to identify the three entries that best represent each style category as described and adopted by the Great American Beer Festival. Judges are assigned beers and ciders to evaluate in their specific area of expertise and never judge their own product or any product in which they have a concern.
The professional judge panel awards gold, silver, and bronze medals that are recognized around the world as symbols of brewing excellence. These awards are among the most coveted in the industry and heralded by the winning brewers in their national advertising.
