Scout Taproom Opening at The Lot on SE Division

The food cart pod taproom turned brewery Scout Beer is opening their 2nd brick and mortar location at SE 50th and Belmont with their own food cart pod called "The Lot at Scout Beer" today, Friday, May 30th 2018. The Scout Beer Taproom is an attachment to a house just east of 50th with a small "Lot" of food carts surrounding it and a pretty sweet elevated deck around the taproom. The Scout Taproom and Lot will celebrate it's grand opening this Saturday, March 31st from 4-7pm with bands and beers.Outside the brick and mortar Scout Beer are six food carts with a great variety. I must admit that from a block away the aroms emanating from this lot were mouth watering. On the outside you have Los Palomas Taqueria with Smaaken Wafftles, Burgers from The Doghouse PDX, salads from Garden Monsters and Hawaiian food from Namu. A number of these carts were saved from the now defunct Tidbit Food Caft Pod at SE 28th and Division that closed October 2017 where Scout's original taproom was located.Scout Beer saved a house from the 1920's that was part home and part tax office that was set to be torn down. The house and it's surrounding lot just across the street from the former and original Mi Mero Mole which is now DC Vegetarian. The home and lot has been almost entirely rebuilt sith salvaged wood, walls and roof to an elevated deck with lots of outdoor seating and a great view to the neighborhood.Inside the smallish Scout Taproom, the only enclosed space at The Lot is twelve taps of all Scout Brewing beer but owner Joe St. Martin says it will likely be up to half guest taps. The in-house brewed Scout beers are made at their lower Hawthorne brewery and first brick and mortar and at Seven Brides in Silverton and Portland U-Brew in Sellwood. Their beers are highly conceptual and often camping/camp-fire themed and can be pretty bizzare and adventurous. As of opening they had beers like a Pomelo citrus Kolsch, Porridge oatmeal cokie pale, Jam their marinberry red ale, Kentucky a bourbon coffee stout, Anaphlactic a peanut butter Porter and Carbon a smoked Imperial IPA among others.Scout Taproom Division's interior is small and simple with wood paneling and high ceiling rafters with high top tables and some arcade games that include old school NBA Jam and Big Buck Hunter HD. In the corner inside you have a pop-u style kiosk cart of Nineteen 27 who specializes in Gourmet S'Mores and will now be permanently located inside. Scout is in negotiations for a similar style small kiosk in another corner of the taproom. The taproom will be open 11am until 10pm to start with possibly later hours coming soon.
