Little Beast moves production facilities from Beaverton to Clackamas

Coming off a recent nod from Beer Advocate’s 50 of the Best New Breweries and the imminent opening of its new beer garden and barrel house on Division, Little Beast has been busy and just announced it’s moving production facilities from Beaverton to Clackamas.So, why Clackamas County?“Portland is getting extremely expensive and when you’re talking about 6,000 to 10,000-foot production spaces it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense financially to drop it in the middle of Portland and pay retail prices,” said Little Beast’s co-owner Brenda Crow. “Clackamas County is just easier to work with in terms of business development and getting things moving faster."Another huge factor was the location: it’s pretty much ready to roll. As the former site of  Drinking Horse brewery the infrastructure is in place, such as floor drains, plumbing, and electrical. The space is just under 6,000 square feet (5,750 to be exact), which will provide space to build out a barrel program.Will there be a taproom or tasting room at the production facility? Nope. At least not yet. “It’s not going to happen right away. I don’t want to have us spend all of our time on a taproom when there’s not much of a customer base for it.”Admittedly, the space is in a mostly industrial location, but it's also near 205 and a newly completed bike path, though Crow says they need to focus on being “a healthy business focusing on great beer.”The new production facility also means they will be vacating their current Beaverton spot. They did look in Beaverton and around outside of Portland but the Clackamas location was just too good to pass up.“Nothing is ever seamless but we were very fortunate to find a place in Beaverton with brewery equipment and now in a building with underlying infrastructure.  It all worked out,” said Crow.The new production facility will be located at 11517 SE Hwy 212, Clackamas OR 97015.
