Ex Novo Brewing collaborates with Hollywood Theater on Movie Madness Cult Classic Pale Ale

Portland's Ex Novo Brewing is releasing a collaboration with The Hollywood Theater called Movie Madness Cult Classic Pale on July 1st. The collab release marks the beginning of on-site beer and wine sales at Movie Madness the classic video store on SE Belmont and it will be available in limited edition 500ml bottles.More from a press release:"Ex Novo is thrilled to partner with Movie Madness in the creation of a signature Pale Ale that celebrates the classics,” says Ex Novo Founder Joel Gregory. “We've long been fans of the Hollywood Theater and its commitment to art and community, and we're excited to participate in this next chapter."The legendary Portland video store Movie Madness and its collection of 80,000+ titles was purchased by the nonprofit Hollywood Theatre in 2018. The Hollywood’s long-term vision for Movie Madness includes the addition of a screening room for community events as well as on-site concession sales.The release of Cult Classic Pale marks the beginning of on-premise beer and wine sales at Movie Madness. ​To celebrate this momentous occasion, Movie Madness will be offering in-store sample tastings of Cult Classic Pale on Sunday, July 1 from 11am-11pm.“Serving beer and wine is just the first step toward transforming Movie Madness into a more welcoming space where the community can gather to celebrate the art of film,” says Hollywood Theatre Executive Director Doug Whyte. “Adding beer sales was one of the first things I did when I started working at the Hollywood, so it only seemed fitting to inaugurate Movie Madness in the same way. And given their commitment to supporting nonprofits - and their amazing beer - Ex Novo was the perfect partner."Movie Madness Pale Ale is a Classic American Pale Ale brewed with 2-row and caramel malts and Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook hops, offering notes of tangerine, pine, and toastymalts. The bottle’s label design, created by Portland artist Nate Ashley, is a celebration of cinema, incorporating references from film icons ranging from Hitchcock to Lebowski. View the label art ​here.On July 1, Movie Madness Cult Classic Pale will be available for sale in 500ml bottles at Movie Madness (4320 SE Belmont) and on draft at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy), Lutz Tavern (4639 SE Woodstock), and Misdemeanor Meadows (6920 SE 52nd). More locations will be added in the coming weeks.
