Occidental and Heater Allen Brewing release Northwest Pilsner collaboration
N. Portland-based Occidental Brewing has collaborated with Mcminnville, Oregon's Heater Allen Brewing on a new Northwest Pilsner. Created with an eye (or perhaps tongue and nose) toward modern hopping methodology and new school German-bred hops with low IBU but significant fruity hop aroma.
Northwest Pilsner features a generous amount of Mandarina Bavaria hops in the whirlpool followed by a dry hop dose of Huell Melon which brings a blend of citrus and melon notes to the forefront.
Occidental and Heater Allen's Northwest Pilsner will be available via Maletis Beverage this week in Oregon.
Suggested pairings: Chilled melon salad, Pad Thai, backyard movie nights, glazed short ribs.
Occidental Brewing Co. was founded in 2011 by Ben and Dan Engler, focusing on largely traditional continental European beer styles. In addition to the origional brewery in Portland, they also now operate a facility in Sparks, Nevada.
