Prost! German Pubs opening Bend, Oregon location
UPDATE 9/16/2021 Prost! Bend is now OPEN, read all about it here.
Bend, Oregon is getting a German beer pub in the form of Pacific Northwest institution Prost! beer bar. Projected to open in the spring of 2020, Prost! Bend will be all imported German bier like the other locations, with a minimal German food menu and a beer garden. Location is key in this kind of populist beer hall, and Prost! will be perfectly situated in a redevelopment directly adjacent to Goodlife Brewing and The Ale Apothecary on SW Century Drive.
Prost! was founded by Chris Navarra in Seattle before partnering with Dan Hart for a Portland location on N. Mississippi Ave. They have eight bars in their group including Hart's Interurban, Stammtisch and the recently added Bantam Tavern to the impressive lineup.
Prost! is known for pouring bier as they do in Germany, in brewery specific glassware. The draft lists feature all imported German bier from large breweries such as Bitburger, Weihenstephaner, and Hacker-Pschorr to smaller, more rare finds including Freigeist, Andechs, and Aecht Schlenkerla. Like the Portland location, Prost! Bend Pub will have a 500 sq. ft. outdoor beer garden with 2,000 sq. ft. of interior space.
The food menu in Bend will be more of a hybrid between Portland’s Prost! and its critically acclaimed sister bar, Stammtisch. This means excellent bratwurst, schnitzel and pretzels with less formality. The menu will be created by Executive Chef Graham Chaney.
Prost! was started by Chris Navarra in 2002 in Seattle, WA and has now grown to locations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Chris was inspired to open Prost! after spending the summers of his youth working on his grandfather’s small-town farm in Germany. This experience cultivated a love of German tradition, food and of course bier.
