Chuckanut Brewing releases new Pilsner and Summer/Fall Seasonals
The lager masters at Bellingham, Washington's Chuckanut Brewing has announced some new September seasonal draft beers. For fans of modern blonde Oktoberfest beers, check out their North Nut Oktoberfest or if you like the richer maltier version, they have the Marzen style Old Fest. If you are interested in what Chuckanut Brewing made to impress the judges at the recent Bitburger Pilsner Fest at Prost! in Portland, that's also being released to the public.
Chuckanut Brewing made Nutburger, a German-style Pilsner to compete with the best northwest lager brewers at the Pilsner Fest. Nutburger didn't win, but was many people's favorite. According to Chuckanut, If you had a blindfold on while drinking Nutburger you could swear you were sitting in a local German bierstube. Nutburger Pilsner is a quaffable 4.9%, designed for a liter mug on a patio. Milder in flavor and strength than Chuckanut's regular Pilsner it’s a nice change and more delicate than most Bohemian style pilsners.
The Scarlet Ale (previously known as Ruby Ale) is Chuckanut's returning late summer to fall season. This is based on a medium bodied amber English-style ale showcasing toasted malt flavors and balanced floral hops with a sessionable abv.
The Great American Beer Festival is coming up in early October, so Chuckanut is brewing up some of their most award-winning classic German-styles. The collection includes Helles Lager (golden breakfast beer from Munich), Dunkel Lager (dark and delicious full of chocolate and coffee flavors), Mexican Style Lager (perfectly light in style and body, great with a dash of lime), Dortmunder, Rauch Helles, Rye Lager, Sticke Alt (dangerously smooth but high in ABV) and their regular year-round Pilsner, Kolsch and Vienna Lager.
