Public Coast Brewing drops Fresh Hop Honey Ale in Cans + Wins GABF Medal
Public Coast Brewing in Cannon Beach, Oregon has just won a bronze medal at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival and released a Fresh Hop Honey Ale in cans.
The GABF medal winning beer was for a collaboration with Big Dog's Brewing Co. in Las Vegas called Willie Big Dog. This is a Robust-style Porter that is very strong at 11.4% ABV and 40 IBUs and aged in Heaven Hills bourbon barrels for 10 months. Willie Big Dog will be canned soon for a limited release.
Public Coast Fresh Hop Honey Ale is a fun take on the fresh hop beer category made with honey from the new Public Coast Farm. Martin Hospitality (the Cannon Beach company behind Public Coast, Surfsand Resort and Stephanie Inn) added the new 40-acre farm to its properties earlier this year. In the future, the farm may house a taproom or even guest house and grow ingredients for the brewery. Public Coast Farm plans on starting small, with blueberries for Public Coast Brewing’s Farm Fresh Blueberry Wheat Ale and other ingredients for the restaurants.
Public Coast Brewing's Fresh Hop Honey Ale is an American Pale Ale brewed with wildflower honey from the Public Coast Farm. The beer combines the brewers passions for all things beer making and growing things like hops and bees, though they technically dont grow bees. Fresh Hop Honey Ale is brewed with fresh picked Willamette and Cascade Hops and is 5.6% ABV. Look for limited cans in Portland at places like John's Marketplace.
