Migration Brewing Westward Frankie
Today's featured barrel-aged beer advent calendar for day 12 is Migration Brewing's barrel-aged version of Frankie Clause Imperial Stout. Frankie is a Belgian-style Imperial Stout made with Belgian chocolate and this version has been aged in Westward Single Malt whiskey barrels.
Westward Whiskey is a Portland-based distiller formerly known as House Spirits who's flagship product was Aviation Gin. The distillery now focuses on single malt whiskey's and their stout cask finish program, House Spirits is now simply known under the Westward brand. Westward whiskey's are made with beer in mind and they have an intimate connection with brewing and beermaking techniques, read more about that here.
Westward Frankie is aged in the Westward Single Malt barrels for 12 months and has been bottled in wax-dipped 500ml bottles available for $9. Draft and bottles of Frankie will be available at the brewery starting at noon this Friday 12/13.
Frankie is beer number 12 on our barrel-aged beer advent calendar counting down to Christmas. View all the barrel-aged beer features at https://www.newschoolbeer.com/category/ba-adventcalendar
The release of barrel-aged Frankie coincides with Migration Brewing's Pajammin’ Party which starts later in the evening at 7pm at their original brewpub at 2828 NE Glisan. This event is a fundraiser for the Children’s Cancer Association and attendees are encouraged to show up in their pajamas.
“This is always a fun time of year to celebrate the holidays while raising funds for an amazing cause,“ says Colin Rath, Migration’s Pub Operations Director, and Co-Owner. “It’s always great to see so many people from the community come out and dress up in wild pajama outfits. We’ve done this for three years and it’s always one our favorite community events,” says Rath.
Migration will be donating 20% of proceeds to the Children’s Cancer Association and will also be selling CCA Hearts throughout the month with 100% of proceeds being donated.
