Allegory Brewing reopens with new Cans and Barrel-Aged Beers

McMinnville, Oregon's Allegory Brewing (one of the most underrated in Oregon) will reopen their tasting room (to-go) this weekend with three new beers available for takeaway in bottles and can: Maybarrel Cherry and Dayton Grand Cru Peche in 750ml bottles, and a new collab with The Commons Brewery called Harbor in Home IPA in 32oz crowlers. Allegory has also packaged up fresh batches of Wheelbarrow of Swords IPA, Dad Hat Pilsner, and Galactic Ghost Hazy IPA in 16oz cans.

Allegory Brewing was forced to close their taproom even for to-go sales on March 20th, but starting tomorrow they will be open Friday and Saturday's for beer sales via their takeout window. On-site food truck Chapparo's Pupusaria will be open and taking to go orders. And, if everything goes to plan the brewery will be making delivery runs into the Portland-area of fresh bottles and cans.

"We're excited to be able to get Allegory beer out to accounts and customers and hopefully add a little bit of joy during this scary time," says Allegory owner David Sanguinetti. "We did a small run of these beers in early February and they sold out immediately so this larger run will hopefully give people a chance to get their hands on them and discover our beers if they haven't seen us on tap or visited us down in McMinnville."

Maybarrel Cherry - Allegory's love letter to the late The Commons Brewery that continues to inspire the brew team more than two years since they closed. Allegory was actually able to brew Maybarrel Cherry with The Commons team of Mike, Travis, and Jamie before their closure. This mixed culture Farmhouse Ale utilizes freshly emptied Maybelle barrels from The Commons Brewery in Portland and with cherries sourced from near McMinnville in the heart of Oregon wine country. Fermented entirely in barrel, rested for a year, and then woken up with the addition of local Rainer cherries resulting in a complex expression of past and present. - 7.9%

Dayton Grand Cru Peche - A study in process where all steps eventually intertwine. This beer begins as a rustic Farmhouse Ale, before conditioning on multiple strains of Brettanomyces. We then begin multiple additions of hand-pitted peaches from Baird Family Orchards in nearby Dayton. After a year, brewers move it to a careful selection of neutral oak barrels to fully mature before packaging by hand to condition in the bottle. Allegory consider's this their celebration of Oregon harvest season. - 8%

Speaking of The Commons, Allegory's new Harbor In Home IPA is a collaboration with Commons founder Mike Wright. Harbor in Home is a single hop west coast IPA featuring Comet hops from Crosby Hop Farm. Harbor in Home utilizes a newish method of hopping called "hop dip" that involves a pre-soaked dry-hop charge that happens in the whirlpool before knock out. The result is an easy drinking 7.5% ABV that showcases the high alpha acid content of Comet hops and their "grassy, grapefruity dankness." 4-packs of Harbor in Home IPA will be available in crowlers at the brewery.

Dad Hat Pils - 2019 Best of Craft Gold Medal Winner.
A visiting German brewer from Allegory's brewhouse manufacturer wanted to brew one on their system, so they took the opportunity to brew this lager. Classic and true German-style pilsner with all Weyermann malt and noble hops. 5% ABV.

Wheelbarrow of Swords - Don't ask... Just enjoy. CLEAR and crisp new school West Coast IPA featuring Crosby Idaho 7 and El Dorado hops for loads of juicy pineapple and orange notes with just a touch of back-end bitterness. 7% ABV.

Galactic Ghost Hazy IPA - a supernatural supernova of a Hazy IPA. Loaded with Australian Galaxy hops and Oregon-grown Comet hops. Soft mouthfeel with lots of tropical and dank notes. 6.8% ABV.

Allegory Brewing's tasting room will be open  Friday's from 2-6pm and Saturday's from 12-5pm as long as this coronavirus related shutdown is still in place.
