Drive-Thru Brewers Market to Kickoff in NE Portland
Old Town Brewing is joining forces with pFriem, Gigantic Brewing, Buoy Beer Company, Stormbreaker Brewing, Reuben’s Brews, Rogue Ales and Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider on a Drive-Thru Brewers Market. The weekly pop-up event is designed to promote local small craft breweries during a time where regular taproom service is not possible.
Old Town Brewing will convert their parking lot into the Old Town Brewers Market every Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Each brewery and cidery will setup in pop-up tents and bring a rotating selection of bottled and canned beers each week for purchase via a touchless no contact system. The drive thru will be a one stop shop for the latest releases and an opportunity to pick-up pizza from Old Town's pub while you are at it.
“We wanted to create a more engaging way to not only buy local beer, but engage with the community directly," says Old Town Brewing owner Adam Milne. "The concept of a Farmers Market was really the driving force. Where each week we will open up our parking lot to alongside other breweries, everyone will set up their booths, with the cool beer they want to sell, and create a single stop where people can come say hi and support a multitude of breweries at the same time - all from a safe and structured distance.”
Customers will enter the drive-thru on the north side of the parking lot by motorized vehicle, cycle or foot. Orders and purchases will be placed from your smart phone from the Brewers Market online menu, but contact and on-site imbibing and socializing is discouraged as is cash payments. As people make their way through the booths they can make their selections on the go or place an order in advance for pick-up. Once placed, pull into a designated parking spot at the end of the market where someone will bring their order out to them. Leaving the vehicle is not necessary, walk-ups are allowed with social distancing measures.
Milne plans to hold the Brewers Market every Saturday through the summer but the lineup of participating breweries could change, and activities and hours may expand if there is demand.
“We were inspired to try and find a positive way for people to show support for their favorite breweries,” said Milne. “Old Town Brewing’s Drive-Thru Brewers Market allows our community to visit their favorite brewers, lend a hand and do it in a safe way.”
