More Clackamas County Taprooms, Breweries, Cideries are Reopening
UPDATED 6/4/2020:
It's been nearly two weeks since Clackamas County was approved to begin phase 1 of Oregon's reopening plan during the Coronavirus pandemic. Most taprooms reported a positive response and actions taken by the community into re-entering establishments for dine-in food and drinks. Some businesses opted not to open for on-premise at that time, but are now cautiously doing so. Clackamas County is the home of many popular breweries, cideries and beer bars in Happy Valley, Oregon City, Milwaukie, Sandy, Estacada, Lake Oswego, Clackamas, and Wilsonville among others.
Thinking of venturing out? We have put together a guide for what some of the most popular taprooms of Clackamas County are doing as far as reopening.
Coin Toss Brewing - Oregon City, OR
Coin Toss was one of the businesses that opted not to reopen two weeks ago, but will reopen their taproom with expanded outdoor seating this Friday, June 5th. The indoor space will not be open for seating for the time being.
Part of the outdoor service plan includes picnic tables with umbrellas, new Adirondack chairs, patio sails, and a serving window direct to the taproom. The Coop BBQ food truck will be onsite this Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 8pm and every Saturday evening throughout the summer, with rotating food trucks on Friday nights.
To coincide with the reopening, Coin Toss Brewing has made a thank you beer to their customers who kept them going through the closure. Pale It Forward is an easy drinking American Pale ale with a little bit of rye, and old school Willamette and Cascade hops. Pints will be only $5 at the taproom.
Coin Toss Brewing will be open 3pm to 6pm Tuesday through Thursday; 3pm to 8pm Friday; 12pm to 8pm Saturday; 12pm to 6pm Sunday; and closed Monday.
Portland Cider Co. - Clackamas, OR
The taproom at Portland Cider Co. had remained closed, but opened last Friday for customers after rehabbing their space to allow for necessary precautions.
The changes include an elimination of the game room to now allow for additional spread out seating. Luckily the production space leaves plenty of open space to help accomodate people. To warm things up they have added string lights and plants to the muraled space.
Portland Cider is also recommending but not requiring reservations for seating which can be made at PortlandCider.com/pub. Every group must sit at its own table, which have been set up at least six feet apart from one another. A host will direct guests to their table. The Pub food menu has also changed a bit, but is still offering pub favorites including Cider Fondue and Bangers & Mash.
Portland Cider's Clackamas taproom is now open again Monday through Thursday from 3pm to 9pm; Fridays from 3pm to 10pm; Saturdays from 11am to 10pm; and Sundays from 11am to 9pm.
Stickmen Brewing - Lake Oswego, OR
Lakeside brewpub Stickmen has now reopened with their vibrant patio open for service. Like everyone else, there will be no bar seating, limited groups and spacing, and a shrunken food menu. Stickmen has reduced their capacity from 220 to 100 people and is encouraging patrons to limit their stays to 90 minutes or less, and no one will be seated after 9pm.
Current limited hours are Monday - Wednesday 2pm-9pm, Friday - Sunday Noon-9pm.
12 Bridge Ciderworks and Taproom - Oregon City, OR
The cidery and taproom has a large selection of their own beverages and guest taps from other cideries and breweries. 12 Bridge was one of the first to open a few weeks ago and it's been going well enough that they have already expanded their hours.
12 Bridge Cider is off the street in a business park, that allows them to have plenty of on-site parking and their commercial space has a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating in an open environment. Also in the business park is a number of food providers that you can pickup food from and enjoy at the 12 Bridge taproom.
The new summer hours are 3-10pm Wednesday - Friday, 12-10pm on Saturday and 12-9pm on Sundays.
Bent Shovel Brewing - Estacada, OR
Bent Shovel Brewing moved their taproom to Estacada last year and the new Beer Garden is a perfect setting for the Coronavirus situation. The beer garden is located next to the Viewpoint lounge with plenty of on-site parking and a wide open space reminiscent of a camp ground. There is a fire pit, tents, and horse shoe in a tree lined location that is dog and kid friendly. Bent Shovel Beer Garden will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12-8pm.
Vanguard Brewing - Wilsonville, OR
Vanguard Brewing has reopened for “customers to enjoy our taproom and beer garden.” They’ll continue online ordering and home delivery service as well, and have reconfigured their establishment to accommodate social distancing restrictions.
Oregon City Brewing Company - Oregon City, OR
The popular downtown OC location reopened last weekend for outdoor seating only. The open patio features picnic table seating and a beer and food ordering window with a mobile restroom and hand washing station. During the beautiful weather last weekend a host station took names and texted people when their tables were ready with sometimes an hour or more wait. The to-go beer and food option is still available for take out. The taproom is open for on-site consumption Wednesday - Sunday 12pm-8pm.
Arch Bridge Taphouse - Oregon City, OR
They’re going to stay to-go only for now. “Our space is small, so it would be hard to have more than a few seats with the current guidelines. We are working with the city on some possible ideas for outdoor seating, but right now it doesn't make sense.”
Same hours, 3:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. everyday.
Valley Growlers - Happy Valley, OR
The popular beer bar has reopened for indoor and outdoor seating from noon to 9pm
“We have been able to expand our outdoor seating to enable us to spread out our tables 6 feet apart, and we have only 1/2 our seating inside to accommodate the rules. The procedure details are still getting worked out.”
The Highland Stillhouse Pub - Oregon City, OR
The popular destination spot for scotch, beer and European pub food has reopened. Seating available outside on their deck and patio at first, and will be following strict social distancing standards. Seating will be by reservation only, so please give them advance notice by calling (503) 723-6789 to reserve a table. Groups will be limited to a maximum of six people and everyone is encouraged to wear masks when not eating and drinking.
From their Facebook page:
“Our community’s health and safety is extremely important to us, so please help keep each other and our staff safe by bringing masks, and following social distancing guidelines by maintaining a six foot distance from other customers. For those who are still isolating, we will continue to offer takeout, which we bring out to your car, minimizing contact.”
Boring Brewing Co. - Sandy, OR
Founded in Boring, Oregon, the brewery is now located in central Sandy and has reopened their bare bones taproom Mon-Thurs. 3-7pm, Friday 3-8pm, Saturday 2-8pm and Sunday 2-7pm.

Breakside Brewery & Taproom - Milwaukie, OR
The Breakside production facility and taproom reopened immediately after approval and has done well with customers and spacing. The recently remodeled and expanded taproom has room for more people to stay spaced and the brewery has added more seating and barrels for leaning and drinking outside. It's walk-up counter service only and customers are asked to bus their own tables and keep 6ft apart and not to gather in large groups.
Breakside Milwaukie Taproom is open Monday - Wednesday from 3-9pm and Thursday - Sunday from 12-9pm.
Beer Store Milwaukie - Milwaukie, OR
Downtown Milwaukie's popular taproom and bottle shop is back in business with indoor and outdoor seating.
