Oakshire Brewing Has No Fear of Barrels
Oakshire Brewing has released vintage barrel-aged beers The Fear that Passes Over Us and it's companion The Fear that Lives Inside. Both beers have been packaged up in wax dipped 750ml bottles with dueling angsty black and white illustrations of an epic barrel room.
Both beers are available now at Oakshire's Public House in Eugene, Oregon and their Beer Hall in Portland.
The Fear that Passes Over Us was born out of the continued desire to push and expand the depths of our barrel-aged beer knowledge. Brewed in the fall of 2017, this behemoth was laid away in Kentucky bourbon barrels from Old Forester Distillery in the deep, dark recesses of our barrel warehouse. After twenty-one months it emerged as a wholly new entity, expressing aromas of oak, vanilla, chocolate, and maple syrup which continue fervently across the palate.

The Fear that Lives Inside: After aging in Old Forester bourbon barrels for eleven months, this single barrel was transferred to a French VSOP Cognac cask. Giving the beer our double barrel treatment, we allowed it to age for an additional ten months to develop further layers of complexity. Boasting distinguished notes of oak charred tannin, sweet whiskey, and expressive vanilla, The Fear that Lives Inside presents itself unlike any beer that has left our cellars. Truly the darkness within.
