Lucky Labrador Brew Pubs are Reopening
Lucky Lab has extended outdoor seating into their parking lot at their SE Portland location
Independent longtime Portland brewpubs the Lucky Labrador will open three of their four locations today, Thursday, September 3rd. Lucky Lab owner Gary Geist had closed all Lucky Lab locations in early July out of a concern for spiking COVID-19 cases in Multnomah County.
With Portland new infections stabilizing, the Lucky Lab will open their SE Hawthorne, NW Quimby, and SW Multnomah Village locations but is keeping their pub on N. Killingsworth closed for now.
The three Lab locations will only be open for beverages and light snacks until the Covid crisis wanes and the public feels comfortable going back out to bars and restaurants.
"No pizza, bento, or sandwiches. Just a few snacks like potato chips, peanuts, pretzels, and maybe some soup," says owner Gary Geist.
Hours will be limited to 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, although hours will most likely be extended for the weekends. It was a tough decision to close in early July because of the spike in Covid cases,” commented Geist. “We definitely miss our customers,” Geist added.
In addition to the significant changes in operations, the Lab has also pivoted by offering cans to go. Cans will be purged with carbon dioxide, filled off of the taps, and immediately seamed at the bar. In addition, the Lab will have six packs and cases available of their two biggest sellers Superdog and Wag IPA next week.
Lucky Labrador Brewing has been an iconic fixture in Portland’s craft brewing scene since 1994. The Lab has two breweries and two satellite pubs. Hours of operation are daily 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Minors are welcome all hours.
