Rosenstadt Brewery releases Altbier, German-Hop Pale Ale and Ur-Weiss

Sticking to their German roots, Portland, Oregon’s Rosenstadt Brewery have released three new beers Rosenstadt Altbier, German-Hop Pale Ale and Ur-Weiss all now available in 500 ml bottles. With balanced and drinkable classic beer styles increasingly harder to find, Rosenstadt’s German-style ales and lagers offer a rare opportunity to drink international flavors made locally.

More from a press release:

Rosenstadt Altbier features a dark-bread maltiness that comes from Munich malt, and a spine of hop bitterness from Hallertau Tradition and spicy Saphir hops. Though the beer is top-fermented, it is cold conditioned like Lager, and is smooth and silky as a result. This is the first appearance in package for Altbier, which won a Gold Medal at the Oregon Beer Awards in 2017.

Germans aren’t entirely impervious to trends, and our German-Hop Pale Ale is the kind of experimentation now common there. We use German ingredients and processes to reinterpret this British-American style. It is hop-forward like American pale ales and is dry-hopped in the American fashion. German grown Amarillo and Mandarina Bavaria hops have some American heritage and create an unusual flavor profile with notes of tangerine and orange. Part of our core draft line-up since 2015, this is the first appearance in package for German-Hop Pale.

Hearty enough for cooler months, Rosenstadt Ur-Weiss is amber in color, has a bubbly effervescence and a  quenching finish – crisp, with just a hint of acidity. Banana and clove notes, typical of the style, tie the elements  together.
