Oregon’s fourth largest city of Gresham will soon have a new brewery tasting room from Portland’s nano MadCow Brewing Company. Gresham is nearly desolate for breweries considering it’s size with just Migration Brewing’s production facility and occasional homebrew sized batches coming out of The Hoppy Brewer and fellow nano Solvana Brewing. MadCow is part of a new class of nano brewers like Brewery 26 and Cooper Mountain Ale Works that opened their first taprooms last year.

MadCow is owned by brewer Jason Blair and his wife Kelly Blair, who founded the nano brewery as a one barrel at a time commercial production in June of 2017. Their beers have been primarily showcased in Portland and East County area and at the Nano Beer Fest over the last 3 years. Now, the couple have signed a lease on a building along Eastman and Division streets in Gresham Town Fair.

“We started our business by packaging in bottles and cans. Up until now, our customers have had to find us in small grocery stores and they’ve only been able to purchase beer to go.” says Owner and Head Brewer Jason Blair. “By opening a tap room our fans and customers can sit down and have our beer on draft—something they’ve been asking to do for a while now.  Mix-and-match beer flights will be available too.”

In addition to beer flights, pint, and half-pint pours, MadCow Brewing will have a small kitchen serving paninis, sandwiches, and small “barnyard bites”.

In 2018, MadCow Brewing became likely the smallest brewery in production size to have their beer poured at the Holiday Ale Festival. They then cranked up production even further to get into the Oregon Brewers Festival in 2019, and again the 2019 Holiday Ale Festival.

The new MadCow Brewing Tap Room will have 16 taps and in addition to their tasty beer, will feature other local small breweries, and fellow Gresham maker Hoodview Ciderworks. There will be a tap for seltzer, and one for root beer, in the family friendly tasting room.
