Ghost Town Brewing haunts Portland this Fall

Recent GABF gold medal winning brewery and metal band Ghost Town Brewing Co. will be haunting Portland, OR area bottle shops and beer bars this November. This Friday the Oakland, California-based brewery will pop-up for tap takeovers at both Roscoe’s beer bar and the new EarthLab Libations tap truck, followed by limited draft and cans creeping into the market just in time for all hallow’s eve.

Ghost Town Brewing was founded by bandmates Ryan Nosek, Sam Carr-Prindle, Jason Gehman and Adam Hill as a 1bbl nano brewing project to offset the cost of leasing a band practice space. After nearly 5 years of selling single kegs of their beer around Oakland they decided to make beer rather than music their primary focus and opened a real taproom and 450 gallon brew sizes at a West Oakland location. And during the pandemic they actually doubled-down on their success by opening a second location and beer garden, and winning a gold medal in the highly competitive Imperial IPA category at the country’s most prestigious beer competition Great American Beer Festival for their beer Nose Goblin Double IPA.

Even with their expansion, Ghost Town Brewing is small and sold almost exclusively in the bay-area except for this special occasion. Limited time can drops of out of state breweries beers have become a popular new trend in Portland. Maletis Beverage began testing the waters by bringing in Full Circle Brewing for a brief moment earlier this year, and now they are doing it again with Ghost Town Brewing. The idea came from Maletis off-premise sales rep and cicerone Jason Jaime who already had a relationship with Ghost Town’s Jason Gehman.

“It began either in Oakland over some Inhumes or at Baileys over some Reubens, but I had asked Jason (Gehman) about any thoughts of GTB coming to Portland for quick drop. Turns out, there were indeed thoughts. Two years, a pandemic, and a brew system capacity upgrade later, here we are,” says Jaime.

Maletis is partnering with Ghost Town to bring in four different beers in 16oz cans and very limited draft all available through preorder.

“Here we are with a GABF medal winning brewery to introduce, and I am hoping this works out so we can bring in more Ghost Town in the future,” adds Jaime.

Geisterfaust Pils

A light, clean, and crisp lager brewed with Andech yeast as a perfect complement to the light floral bitterness and restrained honey malt character. 5.5% ABV

Inhume IPA
Inhume is the flagship IPA that helped establish our death cult. It pays homage to classic west coast IPAs of yore, while updating the style to current tastes by dialing back the maltiness and increasing some of the tropical, fruity notes. Inhume provides an over whelming olfactory experience of Grapefruit, Oranges, Mango and Pine.

7% abv 70 ibu
Citra, Centennial, Simcoe

Rat Majesty IPA

We welcome the imminent reign of our future overlords with Rat Majesty, a new 6.6% ABV Hazy IPA with Mosaic and Idaho 7 hops. Rats are highly intelligent social creatures with a penchant for spreading disease and leaving a barren landscape of destruction in their wake, so this will be a largely symbolic change of leadership. Nonetheless, we celebrate Rat Majesty's ferocious federation of sweet pineapple, fuzzy apricots, juicy honeydew melons, and bitter orange marmalade.

Galvanizer IPA

Galvanizer is the only thing that gets us out of the casket. Galvanism is the foolishly abandoned 18th Century science of reanimating the dead. Galvanizer is our freshest electrifying 6.4% ABV West Coast IPA. We struck upon the perfect combination of Galaxy, Strata, and Nelson hops to catalyze an alchemical manifestation of raspberries, peaches, citrus zest, and pine. The small-minded villagers aren't ready for what Galvanizer is about to unleash upon the world.

Ghost Town Brewing will be at Roscoe’s and EarthLab Libations on Friday, October 29th, 2021.
