Snackdown V: the brewer/chef pairing event of the year returns
PDX Beer Week’s annual brewer and chef tag team-up event SNACKDOWN is back for version V: The Return after 2 years off due to COVID. Presented by Gigantic Brewing Company and Loyal Legion, Snackdown is a WWE inspired food and beer pairing event where 8 teams of brewery/chef teams compete in their most outlandish wrestling-style costumes for the best beer and food pairing. In this Father’s Day event, everyone wins but only one team will get the Snackdown Belt based on the attendees votes.
Past Snackdown Champions:
In 2017 the winner was Danwei Canting and Buoy Beer for their pairing of Pork and Dungeness crab wonton with chilies, black vinegar and crispy garlic with Buoy’s Citrus Wit.
In 2018 it was Lardo and Pono Brewing for their Smoked Pork Burger, American Cheese, Dirty Mustard, Grilled Pineapple paired with Pono’s Pineapple Kölsch.
And in 2019 the team of Great Notion Brewing and Woodblock Chocolate won the belt with a Hop Infused Chocolate & Brined Roasted Cocoa Beans paired with Great Notion’s Blueberry Muffin sour. This year they return to defend their title in the Snackdown bout!

For the 2022 Snackdown V: The Return! the same fun, goofy, but elevated beer and food pairings are back, as is DY Rev Shines on the decks keeping the party lively in The Evergreen ballroom above Loyal Legion Portland from 1-4pm. Tickets are $49 in advance and include all 8 small plates and 8 x 5oz beer pours + a collectible glass. Proceeds after expenses go to recently departed brewer Ryan Buxton's family.
