Deschutes Brewery releases Farmstand Fresh Mango IPA and 2022 Fresh Hop lineup

Oregon’s largest craft beer maker Deschutes Brewery has announced a new year-round fruited IPA and their annual fresh hop beer release for late summer and fall releases dates. We also have a sneak preview of the draft-only fresh hop beers brewed for Deschutes Portland Public House this year.

Farmstand Fresh Mango IPA

Farmstand Fresh is the first fruited beer in Deschutes’ Fresh Family line of beers that was first launched with Fresh Squeezed IPA and expanded to now include Fresh Haze IPA, Lil’ Squeezy Juicy Pale, Squeezy Rider West Coast IPA, and Royal Fresh Imperial IPA. The fresh family beers share one thing in common; to try to maximize the flavor attributes of the specific hops that are used. Fresh Squeezed IPA suggests that it is brewed with fruits, but all of thethe citrus notes come directly from the Citra hops.

Deschutes goal with Farmstand Fresh was to create an IPA that brought huge mango flavor and aroma from start to finish. To get that they turned to sticky sweet mango puree that is balanced with tropical notes from the Bravo & Mosaic hops at 6.4% ABV and 40 IBUs. The experience is like traveling to a tropical locale and grabbing a mango from a farm stand and placing it in your IPA and hanging in your hammock.

Farmstand Fresh Mango IPA is brewed with 2-row malt, unmalted wheat, wheat, and oats. It’s hopped with Bravo, Mosaic and Cashmere, and will now be available year-round on draft and in 12oz cans.

Chasin’ Freshies Fresh Hop IPA

Deschutes Brewery takes their time with Chasin’ Freshies Fresh Hop IPA which always launches late in the harvest season as we begin October. One reason for that is their fresh hop selection which is usually a later harvested hop variety, and this year that is also the case with the highlight of Idaho 7 fresh hops. The Idaho 7 variety was developed in the state of Idaho as you might suspect, but are prolificly grown here in Oregon and Deschutes sources them from Coleman Agriculture in St. Paul. This variety is loaded with notes of apricot, tangerine, and papaya paired with pine and floral attributes. But it takes longer to develop those signature zesty, fruity and piney notes before Deschutes Brewery can get them into their smaller pilot brewhouse. The 2022 Chasin’ Freshies will also be a terrific way to get to know the hop variety, because Idaho 7 is the only variety used in the beer to make it a true single-hop showcase.

Look for the 6.5% ABV and 50 IBUs Chasin’ Freshies in stores in early October.
