Oakshire Brewing Fresh Hops, Smoothie Sour, IPA, & Pumpkin Beer releasing this month

Eugene, Oregon based Oakshire Brewing and their Portland satellite beer hall have an exciting and crowd-pleasing lineup of seasonals coming out on draft and in 16oz cans this September. From pumpkin beers, to strawberry sours and fresh hops, there is something sure to satisfy ever palate.

It might be Oakshire Brewing’s favorite time of the year. The season when the fresh hops are picked and they brew their stickiest IPAs with the freshest and greenest whole cones, a luxury specific to our corner of the globe. Oakshire is also bringing back a fall favorite beer that hasn't been seen for three years, and the brewing company is fast approaching their Sweet 16 anniversary and winter Gnome-seasonal releases.

Read on to find out about the new September beers and all the taproom updates.

Theme From The Bottom Smoothie Sour Ale

Strawberry Cherry Lemonade

5% ABV

The newest iteration of Theme From The Bottom returns to our lemonade series - but this time, with double the fruit! Starting with their traditional smoothie base, the beer is soured with our house culture and fermented with our favorite yeast strain. Then add generous additions of marshmallow crème and vanilla beans for our signature creamy sweetness. Finally, they finish this Theme with a blend of strawberry, cherry, and lemon purees. Pouring bright red, the nose brings remembrance of summer days around the pool or by the river.

Available on tap only in Oakshire's taprooms and in cans throughout Oregon starting Friday, 9/2.

Sum Fun IPA: Edison Effect

West Coast IPA

6.5% ABV

Starting with a base of two-row malted barley and UK-grown malted oats to provide a full mouthfeel. The beer is hopped in the kettle with Citra and Mosaic Incognito oil for a rich resinous character across the palate. They then hit it in the whirlpool with Nelson Sauvin from New Zealand to provide notes of gooseberry. After fermentation, the beer sees a three-stage dry-hop for maximum hoppiness - more Nelson, Australian Eclipse, Strata from Indie hops, and Idaho Gem. Pouring golden with a crisp white head, the nose evokes notes of fruit candy, citrus, and dank weed. The sips are crisp and refreshing with tons of fruit and dank hop resin.

Available on tap and in cans in Oakshire's taprooms and throughout Oregon starting Friday, 9/2.

Big Black Jack

Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter

7.5% ABV

This year marks the triumphant return of Oakshire favorite fall classic, Big Black Jack. First brewed in 2013, Big Black Jack is an imperial chocolate pumpkin porter that has long signaled the beginning of autumn. Starting with a base of barley and specialty malts, they add Golden Delicious earthy and sweet pumpkin puree to the mash. This puree provides a rich and warm squash depth to the beer. They then add organic cocoa nibs and dark chocolate buttons to the kettle, lending a gentle sweetness. Then finish the beer with an aromatic blend of nutmeg, cloves, allspice, ginger, cardamom, and whole cinnamon sticks to recreate the classic pie character. Pouring jet black with a dense cream head, Big Black Jack erupts with notes of dark chocolate. The beer crosses the palate with a rich mouthfeel, and is returning on draft and for the first time - in cans!

Available on tap and in cans in Oakshire's taprooms and throughout Oregon starting Friday, 9/9.

EFA Effing Fresh Ale

Fresh Hop West Coast Double IPA

8.2% ABV

This beer is effing fresh! Fresh Hop Strata Double IPA starts with a classic West Coast DIPA base. They add fresh Indie Hops Strata, grown by Coleman Agriculture and picked the same day on their nearby Alluvial Farm. Hopped throughout the brew, they ferment with their house ale strain. They then dry-hop with CY 2021 Strata. Pouring yellow with a slight haze, huge aromas waft from the glass, full of strawberry, passion fruit, and rock concert cannabis notes. Resinous across the palate and finishing dry, EFA is one of the most fun beers to leave the brewery this year.

Available on tap and in cans in Oakshire's taprooms and throughout Oregon starting Friday, 9/16.

Hop Harvest

Fresh Hop Hazy IPA

6.5% ABV

For the 2022 release of Hop Harvest, Oakshire is again partnering with Oregon’s Coleman Agriculture. Picked just 3 days apart, brewers were able to procure Simcoe and Sabro hops from Coleman’s Alluvial farms. On each picking day, they rush the hops back to the brewery and add them to their hazy IPA base. After fermentation, the beers are blended together and hopped with last year's crop of each variety. Pouring vibrantly yellow with a soft white head, the beer erupts with notes of pine, citrus, coconut, and tropical aromas. Soft on the palate with a vibrant hops resin character, Hop Harvest 2022 embodies everything that the brewers love about brewing.

Available on tap and in cans in Oakshire's taprooms and throughout Oregon starting Friday, 9/23.
