Hammer & Stitch Brewing for sale as a turnkey brewpub/production space
Hammer & Stitch Brewing is for Sale. The northwest Portland, Oregon brewery co-founded by esteemed veteran brewer Ben Dobler closed in December 2022 in what was said to be a temporary pause.
One of the most hyped up breweries of 2019 AND 2020, Hammer & Stitch Brewing had the misfortune of having their opening so far delayed that it pushed it back into the early stages of the pandemic. Coupled with a less than ideal location across the busy NW Vaugh entry/exit to US Hwy 30, Hammer & Stitch could never quite rise above their problems even though the space was bright and welcoming and the beer was extremely well executed even if resolutely traditional and slightly old school.
After exploring a spring 2023 reopening, and then a possible second life as an events rental space, we learned Hammer & Stitch ownership has been quietly shopping it around for potential new owners but nothing that has panned out. On Tuesday, May 30th they went public, offerring the brewery, kitchen, and taproom as a turnkey startup to interested ventures.
It is actually a pretty sweet space and setup for a new brewery, or expansion of an existing brand, but might require a special kind of draw or extra marketing presence.
A custom designed 15bbl brewhouse, with a production capacity of 2.2k barrels per year is included with very light use on the equipment. There is a full service kitchen, indoor taproom capacity of 85, an elevated patio with capacity for another 50. A loading dock at truck height and being one block off a major intersection also is a bonus for production minded operators.
Hammer & Stitch ownership group has not publicly shared the asking price, but insiders tell us it comes with the assumption of some previous debt which may make it a hard sell. We are working to find out more info on the responsibilities associated with a purchase.
