SteepleJack Brewing + Fort George Brewery collaboration beer and release parties
Astoria, Oregon’s Fort George Brewery came to Portland for a new Extra Pale Ale collaboration with SteepleJack Brewing being released in cans this week. This is sessionable but full 5.8% ABV summer day drinker of a beer serves as a connection between people and shared history between SteepleJack and Fort George. The brewery teams are gathering this week for Portland east and west side launch events. Two collab parties are scheduled 5-8pm Tuesday, July 11 at Beermongers 2415 SE 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97214 and Wednesday, July 12 at Proper Pint Oakroom 7654 SW 32nd Ave, Portland, OR 97219.
Steeplejack Brewing brought on Tim Ensign on as their new Director of Sales and Marketing in January 2023, coming with a wealth of experience in the industry including a long stint as the brand rep for Fort George leading into the pandemic. The long history between Fort George and Ensign made for an obvious team-up with former and current breweries with mutual respect and commitment to popular and less-so beer styles.
Brewers from both teams set a date and discussed what to brew. Leanings toward a lighter, hoppy summer beer were unanimous and they decided to dream up an Extra Pale Ale using the Kölsch yeast that beer fans loved in the second batch of Fort George’s current release of 3-Way IPA. Generously hopped with Citra, Adeena, El Dorado and Strata hops, this 5.8% abv Pale drinks clean, refreshing, while bursting with hop aromatics and flavors of Lemon Verbena and gummy candy.
This is just the latest in collaboration loving Steeplejack Brewing’s history of continuously tapping into new and old friends in the industry to share ideas and recipes. Only 2 years old, the 2021 launched SteepleJack has already collaborated with an impressive list of Washington and Oregon breweries such as: Varietal Beer, Upright, Fracture, Von Ebert, Brothers Cascadia, Obelisk, Wayfinder, Great Notion, Trap Door and Ruse among others. Steeplejack is honored to now partner with Fort George for two tap takeover style release parties. A sneak peak of the draft lists for both are below:
