Everywhere Beer opening Portland location
920 SE Caruthers St. Portland, OR 97214
A taste of Orange County is coming to the Pacific Northwest, as Portland is soon to have an Everywhere Beer taproom in the former Chuckanut Brewery P-Nut taproom space and Day One Distribution headquarters. Formed by a breakaway contingent of The Bruery in Placentia, California, Daniel Muñoz, Jeremy Grinkey, Stefan Weber, and Keith Pumilia launched Everywhere Beer Co. in Orange County in 2022. You may recall in June of 2024 when Everywhere Beer Co. took over the taps at Function for a month-long pop-up, or by their draft and cans that have occasionally floated around Oregon thanks to Day One Distribution.
The plan is still being hatched for Everywhere Beer Co.’s Portland location confirms co-owner Daniel Munoz. But if their OC taproom is any indication, expect beers from bright pales to hazy New England, to refreshing lagers and shandy, and an entire section devoted to hard seltzer.
pFriem Family Brewers new Milwaukie location
We teased the mysterious new brewery going into Milwaukie, Oregon’s old city hall building in our most anticipated openings of 2024 and later revealed it to be a new pFriem Family Brewers location. While it may be a year later, the project is still on track to meet their stated opening goal of Spring 2025!
Some exciting new details on pFriem Milwaukie are being revealed here, such as that there will be three bars in the space, two on the main floor and another upstairs. In front there will be a covered pergola in the old firehouse driveway, that will expand seating options year-round. Milwaukie will also have pFriem’s first full bar, with a draft cocktail program that barrelhouse and wild ale manager Kyle Krause is collaborating on with the new locations GM Laura Wilson. Expect two of the three bars to pour 5 housemate draft cocktails with a mix of seasonal creations and mainstays. All three bars will have 22 beer and cider handles from a custom draft system by Nick Klein and NW Draft Tech.
The Walled Garden - a Kings & Daughters Brewing Public House
416 Cascade Ave, Hood River, OR 97031
Since their launch in 2021, Kyle and Kacie Larsen have earned a following for their soft IPAs, and delicate approach to brewing and branding. Kyle brewed at Double Mountain Brewing in the early days, before moving the family to the UK and brewing for Siren Craft Brew, upon his return to Oregon he had a stint as head Brewer of Trap Door Brewing before he and Kacie founded Kings & Daughters Brewing as a contracted “ghost” brand. Kyle brews the beers, Kacie hand illustrates the labels and promotional materials, both collaborate on their tasteful, minimalist, “feminine” leading identity. In 2025, Kings & Daughters Brewing is moving onto the next phase of their evolution, transitioning all of their brewing to the new Von Ebert Brewing facility on N. Mississippi, and opening their very first taproom.
The Walled Garden - a Kings & Daughters Public House will open on the lower level of a brick office building at the corner of 5th St and Cascade Ave. in downtown Hood River, in a space that was previously Promotions Wetsuits. The Walled Garden, Kings & Daughters Public House, will have a broader appeal and brand identity that is inclusive to even non craft beer fans. Featuring 8-10 of the Kings & Daughters beers, the taproom will have guest taps including beers and ciders. There will be a limited spirits menu and house made cocktails and sipping whiskeys. Local and regional wines will be available, as well as a sparkling water bar and a variety of non-alcoholic options. Outside the taproom will be a small patio with three food trucks, one of them serving as the Kings & Daughters official food truck with a menu inspired by the Larsens time in Europe. The vibe at the public house will be French bistro meets Scandinavian cafe with lots of art, florals, and candles.
“The goal will be to have a space that feels like diving into one of our illustrations: it will be elegant, femining, playful... and will hopefully tell a story and invite our patrons to create their own,” says Kacie Larsen.
Tiny Giants Brewing from former Fracture brewer
2705 SE Ankeny St, Portland, OR 97214
When Fracture Brewing stopped brewing beers this past July, head Brewer Steve Beadouin (a veteran of Cascade Brewing) was out of a job but had no desire to leave Beervana. With fewer and fewer jobs for well seasoned brewers out there, Beadouin decided to start his own.
Beadouin is working with Jenny Mann for marketing and social media, and Danielle Burns (Lorewood Creatives, Funky Fauna) for design and branding. The beers will focus on hops, from hoppy lagers, to West Coast IPA and NE-style hazy IPA, and putting a modern spin on classic styles. Staying innovative and up-to-date on trends and contemporary flavor palates is top of mind for Beaduoin, as well as updating older styles and breaking boundary-less beers.
The name “Tiny Giants” is a phrase from one of Beadouin’s favorite bands, Modest Mouse. “I’ve always liked the juxtaposition of it sounding like complete nonsense, but also can be a metaphor of life, and ourselves on this planet. Beers made with a bunch of little ‘tiny giants’ coming together, so to speak. Ingredients wise, and all the people collaborating to make such a small thing possible and exceptional,” he says.
Tiny Giants Brewing will be temporarily setup in the former Gorges Beer Trailhead space on SE Ankeny Blvd. as a location to build the brand while Beadouin looks out for a more permanent brewery/taproom space. Initially, Tiny Giants is leasing the equipment, with plans to do pop-up beer releases and collaborations on-site, but mainly distributing beer in Oregon in kegs and 16oz cans launching this spring.
From Snohomish to Portland, Washington’s Audacity Brewing relaunches in Oregon
Southeast Portland’s Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood
It’s not often that breweries relocate across state lines, but that is exactly what Snohomish, Washington’s Audacity Brewing is doing in 2025. Founder Matthew Wurst lived in Portland with his wife from 2015-2019, before moving to Washington and launching Audacity to a cult following. After realizing that they missed Portland, although their future was uncertain Audacity announced their decision to move away in January 2024 giving their small staff as much time as possible to move on. A few months later they found a mixed-use property in southeast Portland near Woodstock and 72nd and decided to move forward on in relaunching Audacity Brewing in the Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood. Wurst resists any constraints on types of beers he will brew, preferring to stay nimble and react only to changing tastes and seasonality and to avoid being defined. One thing about Audacity that will remain consistent is their focus on small batch consistency and primarily selling through their own community driven taproom. Wurst says, “those goals won't change with our move, but it will be interesting to see how a new city and space will inform our identity.”
Audacity Brewing is currently in the permitting and buildout phase with hopes to relaunch in Oregon in late 2025.
13th Moon Brouwerij assembles a Frankenstein brewery
Ari Moss will transition his quirky and intimate southeast Portland beer bar 13th Moon Gravity Well into a taproom for his new brewery 13th Moon Brouwerij in 2025. Moss used to work at Unicorn Brewing/Portland U-Brew in Sellwood and sporadically release beers under his own brand until leaving to open the gravity well beer bar in the same building on 41st and Holgate as Keeper Coffee, and Wyrd Leather & Mead. Now Moss has acquired Away Days Brewing’s original 5-barrel brewhouse and leased a space for it in the former Captured by Porches brewing production building in Boring, Oregon. 13th Moon has assembled a veritable Frankenstein of equipment with fermentation tanks from the late Feckin Brewing, Laurelwood Brewing, and Unicorn Brewing. Some of the recipes include a robust rich and fruity mini imperial stout and its little sister stout that pours closer to a Guinness. They also are bringing back Unicorn Brewing’s Pilsner, and making a refreshing Lemon Ginger Sage. After getting their licensing and buildout sorted out, 13th Moon Brouwerij hopes to get up and running by this summer and focus on their own taproom and sales to 13 beer bar and bottle shops that represent the craft seeking, divey, and music venues that they love.
Von Ebert Brewing partners with HarBQ
825 N Cook St, Portland, OR 97227
Since closing their original brewery and pub in NW Portland, beer fans have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the new Von Ebert Brewing on N. Mississippi Ave. at the former Ecliptic Brewing mother ship location. Von Ebert is expanding their production with a much larger brewhouse that will take over most of the building to increase production allowing increased distribution and much more packaged beer availability including new 6-packs, seasonals, and collabs in 2025.
The full service restaurant that Ecliptic Brewing had in this space is gone, in its place Von Ebert is building a taproom thick with greenery and dark tones as well as some familiar items from their Pearl District location like big neon signs, rustic wood tables, and familiar faces of some returning bar staff. Further enticing patrons into the taproom will be exclusive Mississippi deal on 20oz steins of their Clubhaus Lager priced at $3 all year long. And in the spring, Von Ebert will be adding an outdoor area with firepits, heaters, and a small stage for live music.
Instead of a house kitchen with full restaurant like Ecliptic Brewing and the other Von Ebert locations have, the Mississippi pub will have the popular barbecue pop-up HarBQ settling in with a permanent food truck at this location. Known for their Texas-style BBQ and frequent appearances at beer events, HarBQ will introduce beef cheek and Gochujang pork belly to the the regular menu and brisket on Saturdays. Their sides focus on being vegetarian/vegan friendly with smoked beets, black eyed peas, coleslaw, and more. Expect regular food specials and collabs with other food vendors.
HarBQ will start with a 3-day a week schedule Friday-Sunday, then expand to Thursday as they get established. The Von Ebert taproom will be open from 12pm to 10pm daily, and allow outside food as well.
Schilling Cider House moves into new SE Portland Restaurant
2800 SE Division St. Portland, OR 97202
Seattle, Washington-based Schilling Cider House opened a Portland taproom next to Market of Choice at the goat blocks in 2017 and closed it in December 2024. The Schilling Cider House will reopen in Spring 2025 in a new location at southeast 28th and Division, a few short blocks between famed dive bar Reel m’ Inn and beer bar Imperial Bottle Shop & Taproom. The new location will be a major upgrade for Schilling, which is coming back with a major emphasis on revamped food and drink menus. The kitchen will remain 100% gluten-free, keeping fan favorites like the gluten-free corndog and tater tots, while introducing new options such as build-your-own charcuterie boards, fried chicken sandwiches, and seasonal specials. The drink menu will continue to offer the largest selection of draft cider in town with 30+ taps, now complemented by craft beer and specialty cocktails. Coolers will be stocked with Schilling favorites and rare and limited release ciders in bottles & cans for on or off premise consumption. The new space will also emphasize community engagement with events and specials, and include an inviting outdoor seating area.
Funky Fauna Artisan Ales relocates to Bend, OR
1125 NE 2nd St. Bend, OR 97701
Central Oregon nano farmhouse brewery Funky Fauna Artisan Ales is relocating from Sisters to Bend, Oregon. Featured in last year’s most anticipated new taprooms story, the previously reported new “Doom Lounge” location which was to be taproom only fell through. It turns out the unexpected change of location was a good thing, as Funky Fauna has secured the lease on the former Humm Kombucha location in Bend to open a new taproom and larger brewing facility. The brewery will upgrade from a 2bbl Electric Stout system to an indirect-fire Portland Kettle Works 10BBL brewhouse. Funky Fauna will continue to produce four small batchwild saisons each month, and expand their ‘feral’ clean beer series with 100% local ingredients and bringing back lager, west coast IPA and hazy IPAs to the lineup.
One of the primary reasons for Funky Fauna to leave Sisters, was that their farmhouse beers were inherently less popular in a small town and it was harder to draw out of town visitors away from the larger attractions. The new taproom will have tons of natural light from wraparound windows which will be fully taken advantage of with lots of plants, artwork, cozy seating, and a fireplace. Funky Fauna’s new home in Bend’s Central District is just a couple blocks from downtown across highway 97 which will soon become an easier crossing with a new walking bridge being installed.
SteepleJack Brewing’s The Union on Hawthorne
3757 SE Hawthorne Blvd
As first reported in our most anticipated new breweries and taprooms of 2024 article, the Hawthorne expansion of SteepleJack Brewing is still very much in the works and plans to open as early as February 2025. Now called “The Union on Hawthorne” the new SteepleJack concept combines their 2024 launched cafe/coffee roaster spinoff Harder Day Coffee, with their in-house bakery Musette, and the family-friendly brewery taphouse that they are known for. Setting this location apart even further from the other SteepleJack’s in NE Portland, Hillsdale, and Hillsboro, the Union on Hawthorne will have 5 food trucks instead of a dedicated kitchen. Expect morning coffee and baked goods, afternoon and evening indoor and outdoor beer garden and community space. The location is a former Bank of America at 37th and SE Hawthorne sitting between a Fred Meyer’s grocery store and all the shops and restaurants of the busy boulevard such as nearby Powell’s Books and Baghdad Theater.
Harder Day Distilling by SteepleJack Brewing
The first SteepleJack Brewing opened impressively with a top notch brewing and hospitality team in a 100+ year old NE Portland church in 2021. Over the next few years SteepleJack expanded to 3 locations, and in 2024 launched spinoff cafe/roastery Harder Day Coffee. But brewing isn’t the only thing interesting founders Brody Day and Dustin Harder, this spring they will introduce the Harder Day Distilling brand.
SteepleJack Brewing has ordered a Still Dragon, and hired acclaimed whiskey expert Nico Martini to be the director of Harder Day Distilling operations. The aptly named Martini owns a mobile draft cocktail company called ‘Bar Draught’, has authored books ‘Texas Cocktails’ and ‘Texas Whiskey,’ and is the founder of Texas blended bourbon brand ‘Grayson Whiskey.’
The first Harder Day Distilling product will be Sunbreak Mountain Vodka launching in early 2025. They will then branch out into a gin, a rum, and a bourbon. Each products label will feature a nearby mountain like the depiction of Mt. Hood on the vodka label.
Widmer Brothers Brewing Gasthaus may be reopening
929 N Russell St, Portland, OR 97227
One of Oregon’s original brewpubs from the iconic Widmer Brothers brewery may soon be reopening if everything goes well. Once a staple beer destination and one of the best breweries to dine in at, the Gasthaus was a German food and new world pub that showcased the pioneering breweries classics like Hefeweizen and Drop Top Amber, next to pub-only favorites like Altbier, and playful experiments into mead, cider, n/a and seltzer. Widmer Brothers remodeled their taproom in 2014, scaling back the kitchen away from the restaurant and installing a pilot brewhouse for more small batch brews. But the competitive craft beer landscape and the location in the Eliot neighborhood with little walking traffic and even less homes led Widmer to close the pub in 2019 shortly before being fully acquired by Anheuser-Busch. Now under new ownership by Tilray Brands Inc, we can confirm that current leadership is charting a path towards opening the Widmer taproom in some form in 2025 that involves a remodel and navigating licensing and construction hurdles that make the timeline unclear for now.
LaLa Brewery dedicated non-alcoholic small batch brews
29300 SE Haley Rd, Boring, OR 97009
Oregon craft breweries are ahead of the trends on non-alcoholic beer, starting with Crux Fermentation Project’s first foray in NoMo in 2021, up to the first 100% n/a dedicated brand Roaming Nobles Brewery out of Portland/Hillsboro. LaLa Brewery will specialize in small batch non-alcoholic beer produced on a 5-barrel brewhouse acquired from the recently shuttered Gateway Brewing.
LaLa Brewery is by Timothy Devlaeminck, the former owner of Fearlandia Haunted House, an Army war veteran, journeyman electrician, and homebrewer. Devlaeminck got into brewing n/a beer after being diagnosed with fatty liver a couple years ago. “I never liked soda or seltzer and most of the NA Beers taste like hop water, so I was inspired to start making my own beverages, says Devlaeminck. LaLa’s brewing method involves extracting the color and flavor from malts without any starches, and converting some starches to non-fermentable sugars to ensure better texture and taste. Some of the house beers include: Red Kite, an Irish style Red ale brewed with Falconers hop blend. Super Monk, brewed with Monk Fruit to give a little sweetness and bermented with Belgian Yeast. And, Malt Root Beer, a malted root beer based off a prohibition recipe.
Breakside Brewery’s Gresham campus inches forward
Lot 10 at the Gresham Vista Park in Gresham, OR
Is it happening, is it not happening? Ever since the New School was first to report Breakside Brewery’s highly ambitious expansion to the Gresham/Troutdale area in 2021 people have been asking if and when this project is coming together…and up until just yesterday we didn’t have any more info. Today we can confirm that Breakside Gresham is happening after final design plans were recently approved and all the permit approvals by the requisite governing bodies have been granted. Still, with a project this size they won’t likely even break ground until the end of the year, so look for Breakside Gresham on our list of most anticipated of 2026 as well.
Proper Pint Slabtown taproom opening in NW Portland
2251 NW Quimby st. Portland, OR 97210
Sean Hiatt opened the first Proper Pint Taproom in the SE Portland Woodstock neighborhood in 2017, and followed that up with a second location called the Proper Pint Oakroom in the Multnomah Village neighborhood in 2021. The third Proper Pint location will open by mid-February 2025 in the Slabtown neighborhood of NW Portland just 1.5 blocks from the new Ruse Crust Collective.
Proper Pint Slabtown will be a hybrid of the previous locations featuring some of the best elements and improvements on both. This will be the largest of the three at over 2,000 sq. ft. and 2 patios flanking each side of the building with a fire pit on the larger east side patio. The bar will have 20 draft lines, which Hiatt believes is now the optimal number of taps between the 24 at the original in Woodstock, and 18 at the Oakroom.
With each Proper Pint location, Hiatt integrates his own custom design elements in upholstery, woodworking, and displays. Proper Pint Slabtown’s wood theme will feature mahogany wood with copper trim and Pendleton wool on the benches and columns for aesthetics and sound mitigation. There will be a plant/flower “living” Lego installation on one of the interior taproom walls surrounded by real plants to tie it together and create a very specific identity for the Slabtown taproom which is also emulated in the site-specific logo.
Away Days Brewing’s old town Troutdale brewpub
After relocating from the lower Southeast Portland’ Hawthorne neighborhood to the Brooklyn neighborhood where they now have more space and outdoor seating and a food truck, Away Days Brewing is now looking to Troutdale for their highly anticipated expansion. Away Days Brewing in Troutdale has now been teased for 3 full years, as one of the biggest new projects in development to the east of Portland in what was the former old town city hall building. The plan calls for a 3-floor building with a brand new brewhouse, upstairs patio, a full service restaurant serving British food, and a grassy beer garden. After long delays that had everyone questioning whether the redevelopment would ever come to fruition, work has recently started on the project and it’s on track to open in 2025.
Prime Tap House locations in Ritz-Carlton Portland’s Flock Food Hall and Sherwood’s Parkway Village South
Prime Tap House earned a huge following after opening in Hillsboro, Oregon in 2020 for their great beer selection and incredible Asian food and fried wings, success that they parlayed into a second location in Hillsboro in 2022. This year Prime Tap House is hoping to expand their concept into the much delayed Flock Food Hall scheduled to open in the new 5-star Ritz Carlton Hotel in downtown Portland, and a fourth location in Sherwood’s Parkway Village South.
Ritz-Carlton’s Flock Food Hall will have seven food vendors with a focus on up-and-coming small local restaurants and concepts. Prime Tap House will be the main beverage vendor for the hall with a full bar and their signature draft beer, cider, seltzer selection sans the wings that they are equally known for. If the timeline holds, the Flock Food Hall and Prime Tap House could be open by February.
In Sherwood, Prime will open a new full concept family friendly food and drinks bar at the new Parkway Village South development which comprises 275k sq. ft. of space with 4 retail lots, a drive-thru, a 100 unit hotel, and the 93k sq. ft. Langers Entertainment Center. Phase 1 of the Parkway Village is open now, and the Phase 2 Southside is currently under construction.
“We’re excited to share that we’re bringing our signature Asian-inspired wing and craft beer concept to Sherwood!” says Prime co-owner Dong Khounphachansy. “After keeping an eye on this amazing town for some time, we’ve found the right location and the perfect timing to make it happen. Construction is moving along, and we’re aiming to open in July 2025.”
Sisu Beer expands to Astoria, Oregon Food Hub
1152 Marine Dr, Astoria, OR 97103
As we reported last Octobder, Seaside, Oregon’s 8 year-old Sisu Brewing is embarking on a major expansion to the already craft beer dense Astoria. Sisu Beer developers have purchased the Astoria Food Hub building which was once planned to host a market and local farmers and fishermen, but has been mainly occupied by the Buoy Beer taproom and the North Coast Food Web for the past few years. The acquisition of the Astoria Food Hub will see the current tenants move out for Sisu to install a new 30bbl brewhouse and production area for packaging and canning their beers, and adding a full service taproom and restaurant with inspiration from the owners Finnish roots.
Zoiglhaus Brewing owners to launch new NE Portland brewery and food hall concept
1728 NE 40th Ave, Portland, OR 97212
After successfully reimagining the family friendly German-inspired Zoiglhaus brewpub into The Zed food hall and taproom in 2021, the owners are planning to use a similar business model at the former location of Pono Brew Labs, Columbia River Brewing, Laurelwood Brewing, and Old World Brewing before that. The storied history of the space off of NE Sandy Blvd on 40th Ave. will be home to a new TBA brewery from the owners of Zoiglhaus Brewing, Ascendant Beer, Cerveceria Norte, and New Mexico’s Ponderosa Brewing. Instead of using one of the existing brands, they are working on a new brand to better reflect the neighborhood and concept. The basic outline for the project is to have 9 indoor food pods serving different types of food around a central brewery and bar. Brewmaster/co-owner Alan Taylor says they will try not to replicate styles currently being brewed at Zoiglhaus Brewing and try to steer clear from making German-styles while allowing a new full-time brewer and current staff to stretch their creative muscles on new collaborations. A timeline for the new project is still TBD, but they hope to dial in the brand this Spring.
Battery 245 Brewing comes to the North Coast
69 NE Heron Ave #9628, Warrenton, OR 97146.
Oregon’s north coast has been a hub for craft beer for decades, but the Astoria suburb of Warrenton has yet to have their own brewery not counting the short-lived Flood Valley Brewing taproom. Battery 245 Brewing is a long promised startup that was originally set to go into a 100+ year-old former grocery store building. After years of grappling with the city and engineers the previous location was deemed to be structurally unsound and the building was abandoned. After time to regroup, and with new investors, the Battery 245 Brewery is now back on track after the city approved a 5-year lease on a warehouse near the Warrenton marina. If all goes as planned this time, the Battery 245 will be brewing by this spring, and open the taphouse side of the business this summer.
Irrelevant Beer Brewpub with Goon Burger
1703 Main St, Suite B, Vancouver, WA, 98660
One of the most exciting new brewery openings in the metro area last year was Irrelevant Beer, a spinoff of Relevant Coffee in downtown Vancouver, Washington. The brewery is located in a garage behind the Relevant Coffee cafe, next to the coffee roaster and sharing the space where they make cold brew coffee. With veteran Brewers Sebastian Lynch and Quin Tinling on the brewdeck, Irrelevant successfully launched draft beers and cans with Day One Distribution while operating a bare bones tasting room space behind the roll-up doors into the brewery itself. That was phase one, and phase two is about to begin with the opening of a real sit-down brewpub around the corner from the current location where they will be teaming up with longtime partners Goon Burger opening their first brick-and-mortar in the shared space.
The Irrelevant Beer Brewpub with Goon Burger is an 1,800 sq. ft. space that will have 14 dedicated beer taps, 2 of them Lukr side pull faucets, and another 2 dedicated to cider. Non-beer options will include a limited wine selection with white, red and rosé spritzer, and n/a LiquidDdeath sparkling water, Fort George’s Lüp hop water, Caldera Brewing Root Beer, Clear Soda, N/A Stella Artois, N/A Guinness, and juice boxes for the kids. But the main feature other than the Irrelevant beer will be Goon Burger’s first brick-and-mortar for their signature smash burgers, doctored grilled cheeses, and amazing loaded chili fries, and new items like chicken tenders and salads.
Irrelevant Beer + Goon Burger’s new location could be open any day now and plans to operate 7-days a week.
Lightning Storm Brewing gathers in Vancouver, Washington
1919-C 5th St Vancouver WA 98661
Homebrewers Cody McCormick, Garrett Jones, and Justin Laddusaw, are launching Lightning Storm Brewing out of a warehouse near Vancouver’s Pearson Air Museum in early 2025. The three founders decided to pursue their dream of owning their own brewery by graduating from 5 gallon homebrew batches to a 10-barrel brewhouse salvaged from the defunct Mill City Brew Works in Camas, Washington. Lightning Storm’s early beers fall into hoppy or fruity categories with releases like a tart and light raspberry ale, a dark hued blackberry pale ale, a Mosaic hopped IPA, and a citrusy pale ale. Initially the brewery will be distribution only, but future plans include a taproom in the Vancouver, Washington’s Salmon Creek neighborhood
