Function PDX final 2025 Brewery Pop-Up Schedule
Portland, Oregon’s favorite pop-up taproom Function is revealing the final 6 months of their 2025 guest brewery calendar, and some significant changes to the bar program. Since 2017, Function has been hosting food, drink, and social function pop-ups at their original location at 919 NW 23rd avenue before pivoting to small and regional out-of-state craft breweries only in 2021.
Function’s unique business model is to partner with a brewery to make over their event space rebranding it as a temporary pop-up location complete with custom brewery swag like glassware, shirts, hats, cans to-go, lots of exclusive draft beer, and beer release parties and meet-the-brewers. Function’s month-long pop-ups are open to the public, but they also have a special membership only basement beer club that for $30 a month nets members discounts, access to rare beers, exclusive merch, and invite-only preview parties.
In 2024 Function expanded from their basement digs on NW 23rd onto the second floor, adding an additional bar, a much larger to-go packaged beer cooler, and more taps and seating. The expansion coincided with the opening of a second NE Portland location of Function at 2006 NE Alberta in the former Imperial Bottle Shop & Taproom Alberta space. The beginning of 2025 marked a new beginning for Function which has now started to double down on the breweries as well, with two different brands each featured at one of their two locations.
This Spring or early Summer of 2025 the Function experience will evolve again with the addition of a full liquor license at their original NW 23rd Ave. location. The change is recognition that the patrons of Function NE and NW are very different. Function NW appeals towards a more adventurous audience looking for variety, while the NE taproom patrons stick more to the familiar beer styles and breweries. The bar program is a test for the NW neighborhood with a limited selection of 4 spirits and 4 house cocktails carefully chosen to not step on the primary function of function to operate as a beer bar.
The previously revealed upcoming pop-ups are Pure Project and Radiant Beer Co. in April, Outer Range Brewing and Our Mutual Friend (OMF) Brewing in May, Meanwhile Brewing and Celestial Beerworks in June.
