Alesong Brewing celebrates 9th Anniversary with new collaboration

Alesong Brewing & Blending to celebrate its 9th anniversary on Saturday June 28 —

Brewery celebration and premiere of its collaboration IPA with Sunriver Brewing Co. & Grand Fir Brewing

Alesong Brewing & Blending, Oregon’s leaders of barrel-aged beer and wild ales are turning 9 years old, and releasing a clean and contemporary IPA instead.

Saturday, June 28th from 1-8pm, Alesong will celebrate the anniversary with a party at their countryside Eugene tasting room at 80848 Territorial Hwy featuring live music from local favorite, Inner Limits, complimentary ice cream sandwiches from Alden’s Organics, a special anniversary cookout menu from Alesong’s on-site kitchen featuring smash burgers and Olympia Provisions sausages, and of course, the release of Alesong’s annual Canniversary Collaboration IPA available for on-site consumption and in four packs to-go! No reservations necessary (or accepted) to attend.

As a tongue in cheek nod to the common practice of IPA-centric breweries releasing once-a-year barrel-aged anniversary beers, Alesong releases a highly anticipated collaboration IPA in cans every year for their anniversary. This year Alesong worked with fellow Oregonians and 2024 Great American Beer Festival Breweries of the Year (in their respective size classes), Sunriver Brewing and Grand Fir Brewing to create a beer celebrating both Alesong’s and Sunriver’s anniversaries. The beer is a modern West Coast IPA using all the trendy hops and newest in hop extracts that Alesong doesn't normally get to play with, including versions of Mosaic, Crush, Strata, and Columbus. The end result is a drinkable IPA at just over 6% ABV, featuring a balance of tropical, citrus, and punchy resinous notes.  Alesong will have commemorative anniversary coozies to accompany every four-pack purchased.

In addition to the anniversary celebrations, this IPA highlights the collaborative nature of the beer industry, showcases Oregon’s award-winning brewers, and acknowledges that although Alesong focuses on barrel-aged beers, they still have plenty of love for the Pacific Northwest’s favorite beer style!

Also available is Alesong’s recent quarterly release of 4 new beers in their traditional barrel-aging and wild ingredient beer series they are well known for:

  • Blossom is a delicate farmhouse ale that spent over two years in oak before being conditioned on Oregon lavender along with freshly grated lemon zest. At only 4.2% ABV, Blossom is a light and refreshing beer perfect for sunny days and patio refreshment as Oregon heads into the best season of the year!

  • In collaboration with Xicha Brewing, Mezcla, or blend in Spanish, is a tart farmhouse ale that was aged for over a year in añejo tequila barrels to add the smoky earthiness familiar to lovers of the Mexican spirit. With the help of the Xicha kitchen team, we conditioned the blend on fire roasted pineapple and morita chili peppers to find that perfect balance of sweet and spicy.

  • Bright Copper Kettles is the next beer up in our “Favorite Things” series of winegrape co-ferments.  A blend of tart blonde ales, conditioned on Malbec grapes from Quail Run’s Sophie Vineyard in Southern Oregon, the beer pours a stunning crimson that previews the bold blackberry and cherry flavors to come.

  • And finally, Double Barrel Oak & Ember is a roasty, chocolatey, imperial oatmeal stout that was aged in Henry Mckenna 10-year barrels for a year before being treated to another round of maturation in 8-year Elijah Craig barrels, resulting in this wonderfully robust showcase of bourbon-barrel-aging glory.

One of Alesong’s three co-founders, Doug Coombs, says this anniversary is meaningful because it’s a chance to celebrate with our community: “With all the craziness in the beer industry and the rest of the world right now, we’re so thankful for the amazing local community that shows up to support and celebrate life’s magical moments with us,” says Coombs. “Plus, we’re ready to party and enjoy Summer in Oregon!”

ABOUT ALESONG BREWING AND BLENDING: Named Brewery of the Year at the 2024 Great American Beer Festival® in its size category, Alesong Brewing and Blending is an artisan brewery, winery, and cidery based in the heart of Southern Willamette Valley wine country outside Eugene, Oregon. With 100% of production spending time in oak, Alesong crafts unique and small-batch blends, producing styles that span the flavor spectrum. As the beer, wine, or cider in barrels matures, the team samples and selects barrels individually to create a final blend. Paying homage to old-world Lambic blenders and artisan winemakers, Alesong strives to achieve complex and balanced final blends that are much more interesting and complete than the sum of their parts or any individual barrel by itself.
