Oregon’s largest Oktoberfest Celebration turns 60
Mt. Angel Oktoberfest holds its 60th Celebration Sept 11-14, 2025.
It’s come a long, long way from the humble beginnings in a tent just off Main Street. When it began there was beer, one type of beer; either Olympia or Blitz (remember that one?). Now Mt. Angel Oktoberfest offers 40+ selections, a line up that you cannot find any where else.
Those looking for craft beers should check out the smaller ‘gartens’, the Prostgarten and Hopfengarten are the spots where local craft brewers are given a chance to shine. Brewers from Heater Allen/Gold Dot, Silver Falls, Block 15, Rosenstadt and Zoiglhaus have some fine Festbiers and German styles. Benedictine Brewery’s Black Habit is located in the Hopfengarten, come early, it sells out. These smaller locations have limited entertainment and are perfect for sipping and talking. The Engelgarten, is back again this year, with some Paulaner from Munich and for your friends with relaxed taste buds – a Coors Light.
Looking for entertainment with your beer? The larger venues have a great party atmosphere to go with your beer. pFriem and Weihenstephaner are tapped in the Weingarten. Big brass, fun interactive accordion, and the evening closes with a high energy show featuring Grammy nominee Alex Meixner round out the entertainment. The Alpinegarten has long been regarded as the venue with the finest beer menu. They are pouring Von Ebert, Van Henion, Weltenburger Kloster and Andechs. These are paired with some great traditional and interactive music. Cowbells, alphorns and accordions are the order of the day. These are also accompanied with great vocals. The Biergarten is the place to dance all night and drink beers listening to alpine rock, and enjoying a beer from 10 Barrel, Spaten, Widmer, Spaten, Franziskaner and Michelob.
Check out the full list at: https://oktoberfest.org/drink/ The table shows all 46 beers being offered and can be sorted by style, brewery and which location (biergarten) it can be found at during the festival.
Need a break between? Walk down town and enjoy the incredible line up of food from the nonprofit groups that are putting out their best for you. Sausage and kraut, pretzel with cheese – of course! But how about some Russian Pelmini or Street Tacos? Can’t really enjoy a beer with out a good plate of nachos? We got you covered.
Get your annual dose of German tradition the alphorns and accordions are everywhere! The polka is king and the chicken dance gets everyone moving.
Want to stay over? Bring your tent or RV for one of the many dry camping lots in town. They take drop ins, so no problem if you are not a planner. Check the locations at: https://oktoberfest.org/park-and-stay/.
