Wayfinder Beer hosts Women’s History Month event series

Portland, Oregon’s Wayfinder Beer is hosting a lineup of female centric events and special guest tappings happening throughout March for Women’s History Month. Wayfinder Brewmaster Natalie Baldwin was intimately involved in curating the uniquely creative lineup of events that emphasize community and showcasing independent business, creatives, personalities, entrepreneurs, skills, and crafts instead of just another drinking event.

“I think that beer can sometimes consume your identity,” says Baldwin, “I want to show that its not always the first thing, beer really brings people together and I want to focus on the magic of knowing women in other industries and on other cool things that we do. It was really important in the beginning of my career to find people.”

Events kick off on March 14th with ‘Paper Crimes’ a collaging how-to event and pop-up marketplace with artist/teacher Jessica Liberty. The following day Sunday March 15th is ‘Heels over Reels’ a fly fishing networking and learning event with some of the premiere women in the sport. And on Sunday March 29th Wayfinder hosts ‘Girl Power’ a showcase for 5 female tattoo artists showing off their art and giving tattoos on site.

And throughout March there will be special tappings from other lady brewer friends of Wayfinder’s Natalie Baldwin that either helped her in her career or that she admires. Though specific tapping dates are unknown, we can expect beers from Holy Mountain, Bierstadt Brewing, Cloudburst Brewing, Baumans Cider, Stray Cider, and more.

“When we highlight women in all these spaces its not just about women and women seeing other women, we want people to come and meet new people and experience their art,” adds Baldwin. “The beer industry can feel overwhelming with all the struggles we have had over the last couple years. I want to find the magic and expose people to new things.”

Mia Sheppard

Guiding and Outfitting 101 w/ Mia Sheppard of Little Creek Outfitters and Author of the Outfitter's Camp Cookbook

Mia owns Little Creek Outfitters in Oregon. She has been fly fishing since 1996 and started guiding in 2003 on the John Day River with the purchase of Little Creek Outfitters. Mia soon became efficient at casting both a single and double hand rod and went on to becoming a 3 time world champion spey caster. She is now recognized as one of the top women casters in the industry and has used her skills to raise over $18,000 for Casting for Recovery. When she isn’t on the river, or being a mother, she is hiking the desert with her dog, hunting upland game birds or working to engage more women in the sport of fly-fishing through her company Juniper River Adventures.

Mia is a board Member for the Oregon State Marine Board and a member of the John Day/Snake River Resource Advisory Board and is a top ambassador for GrundensGloomis and Rio Products. Mia's book Outfitter's Camp Cookbook is now on presale.
